you can also go from Abu Hamour to Al Fardan also with the same bus. The problem is these guys changed some of the routes, open new routes so I'm not sure of what they are doing now.
For Abu Hamour the two or three buses that I used to see going there were 12, 21 and 22.
How about all the women agreeing on a certain date and using the buses? That way, there would be some safety in numbers.
It probably wouldn't be a date any time soon, because nearly everyone's going away for the summer, and there wouldn't be the same safety in numbers effect.
So how about some time in late August/early September? Have a reclaim public transport day? And see if it can continue? At the moment, it seems as though women are retreating, there are more and more no go areas, more and more don't do this it's not safe. That means that fewer women are doing these things, which means behaviours like catching a bus are becoming unacceptable and 'asking for trouble'.
Surely, the way to resolve this kind of problem isn't to stop doing it, but to do it all the more? The more often you do it, and the more often other women do it, the more acceptable and the safer it will likely become, because if women using public transport is an every day occurrence, you will be less likely to get men thinking 'Ooh, she's catching a bus, she must be a loose woman, have no or low moral values'. If it's something that women do every day, then it won't raise eyebrows and we'll all be safer in the long run.
When we we're quite new here, there are times we couldn't get a taxi because of Asian games of course! so we took a bus from souq up to Al Jarir, where my husband is waiting to pick us up (because he hates souq, it's always crowded) the bus driver is Filipino and very polite and said "if anybody touches you let me know and I will tell them to go down." surprisingly enough nobody dare to touches me or squeezes me, indeed they avoided me when I was passing by them to get the available seat which is in middle of the bus. The driver told me "in this country the government take it seriously when it comes to woman gets harmed!" so I feel confident! "Al Hamduli'Allah"
not because they are just worker, it doesn't mean they all have the same mentality. some of them values their jobs and the others unfortunately not! If you're a woman enroll for Taekwondo or any self defense, so you know how to defense yourself!
If you worry in every single thing? then it's a big problem!
You can get those at the 'General Bus Station' near Al Fardan Center or from Mouwasalat. The map would show you the bus stops and the routes. You are right, ..taking those is much safer than driving these days. By the way where do you live? I might help you with this. I've used the bus for almost 4 months everyday.

means that you can use bus number 12 and 21 as I guess. It depends on where do you live.
