All Filipinos out there...
How can we help our families in Manila ngayong bumababa ang value ng dollar pero patuloy naman ang pagtaas ng bilihin?
Any ideas?

on the other hand..... some are regretful why they did not send so much before.... when the rates is at 55. :)

This currency situation is quite depressing but since we can only do little at least to control/limit the amount of dollars we are sending to Philippines. Because the more dollars the government received from OFW (particularly), the greater the value of the Peso becomes. Why?? Because we have more dollars to pay for "OUR" debts..

And besides, even if the Peso continue to boost its value, there's no improvement at all and unfortunately its getting worse!!!

In my mere opinion only...

kababyan, it's time to tell our feelings and our side to our families, explain to them that the peso is continually plummeting day by day.

By ainarl• 4 Nov 2007 17:33

for s short term investment "and if you have extra cash sleeping in the bank" why not. Its less complicated for expats in terms of documentations and legalizations.

Condos are not good investment at all.. buildings will always depreciate.. and all you own is part of that building..

By ainarl• 4 Nov 2007 17:27

Agree with you, most of my Kabayans are doing so but cant help it. it is in our upbringing that we extend our helping hands to our relatives whom are in need of our support.

YES! its the best time now to put your money into Condominium unit investment. and if you have a crazy plan doing so in the not so distant future. Get the one develop by Ayala Corporation, its a sure winner!

I only send enough money to my family to take care of utilities, amortization and other incidental expenses and etc. etc. the rest will be here for the timebeing. It is the BEST TIME now to invest your money into real estate in the Philippines....which i did!

It's time for relatives left behind in the Philippines to start thinking on how they can make extra earnings and not just wait for their monthly allotments. Kick out your older brothers and sisters, (which majority already had their own families but still depend on you because according to them you are the one making the big bucks) aunts, uncles etc from your household and tell them to find their own means.

To all the Filipino OFWs learn to pay yourself first with your hard earned money. Stop sending all your income to the Philippines (unless you are sending to your minor children and spouse)and start saving for your future, I bet you the ones who are just waiting for your monthly support is spending all of them because they know all they have to do is ask YOU.

Hey pinoy,

Respectfully If you are worried about the dollar devaluation and the peso conversion, Guess what? Maybe ex- President Marcos resting place has a treasure vault of gold coins store in his north Luzon housse and mausoleum, where it could be buried under his bed.

i have such a limited idea on unskilled wage. i just can't say, although for a skilled white collar job here more than 2k . Depends on nationality.

Yup...Filipinos un skilled workers in iraq make 500 or 600 a month...

Plus they work 12 hours a day 7 days a week...

An accountant may make 2K or 3K

Not sure what they make here???

A skilled engineer or similar can make lots though...

What does un skilled make here?

it's about time to love ourselves first..i mean leaving our country meant a lot...common reason..."to give our family a better life"...but it doesnt mean we have to live a miserable life away from home... we should let them understand things...it's just a matter of how u will let them understand...

well the least thing we can do is to ask our family back home to sympathize with us...sometimes we're giving more than what they need... few sacrifices won't hurt that much...

The value of peso arises and we as an Overseas Filipino Workers our salary here when converted in our money lower down because of the exchange rate of peso over dollars. $1 = 43 ony but last year it was like $1 = 49 and the passed years 55..We as expats we adjust our money and send big remittances in the Philippines. Sometimes after pay day we just send the money and leave enough amount for food. majority of us are working here for our own families back hom..We are so mesquin...
