Is Driving that bad
By Absolutejaguar •
Hello from a Newbie
Is driving in Qatar, specifically Doha that bad?
I spent my first few hours in the country in the back of a Taxi, finding myself in the right hand lane when turning left and bumping down rocky tracks etc. I've also heard a few stories.
As a Brit just finished 6 months in Denmark where car ownership costs are prohibitive I was looking forward to getting back behind the wheel.

Yeah, it's chaotic but u'll make it through. Think of it this way...the crazy driving makes u curse, yell and swear which in turn will release the day's stress and u'll get home all happy and perky :D lol
I'm not always right, but I'm never wrong :P - Garfield
Hmmm.
Red Pope got a new screen name????
You can't teach experience...
ironically for an Islamic republic surviving driving is a lesson in Buddhist practices.
dont get angry
let it go
breathe
LOL
yes it is awful
well let me just say this... over the last 8 years of my life driving... i have only had two recks... one was because some one ran a stop sign and hit me... the other of which was partially my fault but i was just a beginner driver...
and since i have been here i have had to very small fender benders... but both of them were not my fault and one of which the guy purposely hit me then drove off...
so to answer your question... YES DRIVING HERE IS CRAZY... i lived in japan for 3 years... and this is worse than that...

I am afraid that the standard of driving in Doha is really bad. Very few people know what indicators are for or how to stay within a lane. In saying that you do get used to it. It will never be acceptable but you do learn to anticipate being cut up and all the other stupid things that happen. Learn to smile and count to 10!
