Question about Blood Donations
Hi everyone,
We are having a blood donation drive here at our company and I had a question for all you clever people:
What are the considerations for a muslim to receive a blood transfer? Does it have to be done according to a set procedure to ensure it is "clean and acceptable"?
My mind is boggling.
Yes, I just took a look around there and I must say, I will visit it more often to get information.
I only now also realised I should probably have posted this in the religion forum, my apologies to all.
Thanks clearbluesky ... just what I was looking for.
i guess theres no other rituals they need. its an SOP of the hospital how they made a blood donation. its not about religion. or belief, its science not religion......
Guess we work at the same place, we are having a blood drive here today, In the UK it isn't usually a problem, blood is blood, but here not so sure, never the less I will go along and donate, It might end up saving a mother giving birth, or a labourer hurt on a building site.
I know that some relgions cannot accept blood or organ transplants, from anybody, even their own religion. It puts a man in a difficult decision to see his wife die in childbirth and decide between his (and her) beliefs and the future of their child.
Ahhh, I see where I might have confused you. No, I am not muslim. I am an atheist and as such the question was more of a general question to broaden my knowledge. Yes, my arabic nick name sometimes drops me in deep water :)
What difference does it make if the blood is from different religion...........
Stupid questions all the time
which is given us to make decisions. Maybe some people are going to write it is not right to get blood transfer from a person that drank alcohol in 40 days. How will you manage such subject if you get an answer like that and you will be in a situation like spouse/son/daughter/brother/sister will die if they do not get blood transfer? Will you let them die because of an answer that you get here and will you blame religion for that?
There is a short and funny story. Please people do not take it offensive.
One day there was an imam in a village spending most of his time in the mosque and keeping himself away from any kind of evil. One day there was a big storm was coming. So 3 villagers comes and tells him. Imam please come with us there will a storm and we are afraid that there will be torrent which makes dangerous to stay here. But Imam was a faithful person and was in God's house. He replies no I am safe here in the mosque. God will protect me, I am a good muslim. After a while water level becomes higher and reaches till first floor. So a boat and a rescue team comes to save him and calls the imam. Come with us you are going to drown here. But he gives same answer. He was inside the house of god and he was a good muslim. After a while water reaches till minaret. A rescue helicopter comes to save him and they find him at the top of minaret and asks him to come to helicopter. But imam gives same answer. In the end water reaches to the top of minaret and he drowns. When he finds himself other side and realize he was already dead. He was sad and angry. He was going to be taken to heaven but even though he could not believe that his god did not save him. Angels ask him the reason and he tells his story. So one angel comes in front of God and tells his story. God becomes angry and says. Tell this idiot I sent him 3 faithful villagers, a boat and a rescue team, and a rescue helicopter to save and protect him. What he was waiting from me more?
This can be the answer to help you to minimize your ignorance maybe because even the god tried to help this imam he was becoming ignorant because he was thinking god did not help him.
Do you know, what you are looking for?
maybe realsomeone can have an answer to you .. but the more serious issue is would it be a problem for a muslim to accept an organ transplant from a non muslim and are muslims allowed to donate organs to non muslims? I would be interested in an answer ot that question as well for my own knowledge
"The best way to predict the future is to create it".
Uhmmmm this is WHY I asked the question Nick,
because I do not know what the religious implications are. I DO know that up to a while ago, it was considered wrong to try an help people that were, for instance, in car accidents etc.
Ohhh and uhhmmm, yeah, I know what I am looking for: an answer to minimize my ignorance.
I really do not understand such questions. What do you think? Will the god order you to kill yourself by not making blood transfer? I do not get the point. What will be wrong about trying to survive?
