A friend of mine has just moved to Sharjah, UAE, and still hasn't had internet installed. I said I'd ask on QL if anyone could recommend some social groups she could join, e.g. mother/baby meet-ups etc.

I've been in Sharjah for 5 months. I describe Sharjah as Residential Capital of UAE, since a lot of people choose to live in Sharjah even if they're working in other emirates like Dubai. My point is, she will never get bored, Beaches and Parks are at your backyard. She can visit the following sites, maybe it will be helpful:
