Selling a car in Qatar

I'm planning to sell a car privately (i.e. not through a dealer) and want to know the steps involved.

I thought there'd be a guide to this on QL already, but I couldn't find one (which doesn't mean it isn't there :)

The car has 3rd party insurance, so I know nothing needs to be done regarding that.

But once I've found a buyer, what steps are required to transfer ownership of the vehicle to them?

pauji11 said Buyer needs "No Objection" ...

Buyer needs "No Objection" letter from his/her employer. All you need is Qatar ID and copy of the insurance. Regarding the money, whatever suits you and the buyer ........

car will be bought for a wife under husband sponsorship and it's going to be registered in her name, they will need a letter in Arabic stating that the husband has no objection of her using the car.

I thought 3rd party insurance didn't have to be transferred to the buyers name.

The car had a technical inspection last September, 23th. Are you saying that if I sell it after June 23rd I need to get the inspection done again?

if the vehicle is older than 3yrs and above, you must do the technical test (if the car registration is expiring within 3 months) and insurance should be in the name of the buyer before you go for transfer of ownership

If the Vehicle registration is valid more the 4 months then the buyer should get Insurance in his name only.

This is as per best of my knowledge, if any change in law recently I am not updated :-(

dont worry, FS

he will not leave us!

...just his car needs more spare parts and maintenance and it's a good idea to sell the old Cheky and to buy a new Hummer or FJ Cruiser!

I am right, tallg?

Thanks VB. Sounds nice and easy. Does it have to be the traffic dept. on E ring road (near airport?), or would Madinat Khalfia be ok?

Not buying a new one. Preparing for leaving Qatar. Once we sell ours work will provide us with a vehicle until we leave.

collect advance deposit money / cheque first, goto the main traffic department at E ring Road with prospective buyer, collect the transfer forms and get it typed to transfer the vehicle.

Carry the copy of your ID or passport for your identification and original Mulkiya (vehicle ownership card) to the traffic dept, they will do the rest...it may take around 2-3 hours due to rush.

Collect the full amount prior handing the keys of your car finally to new buyer.

All the best.....which new car you bought?
