The Sheraton is earthquake safe. Built on 30 000 rubber balls, so it can wobble and wiggle as a whole.

I have always said half this city will collapse if we get a decent earthquake in Doha. Nothing is built to code or standards for earthquakes. Maybe then the gov't will hire people who are actually trained in contruction and will comply with regulations and codes.

We were taking late dinner experienced the earthquake at our sixth floor dwelling. The building swayed for few seconds & distinct sounds were noted as type of slowly diminishing pendulum movement.
