Driving through Fog

..i read a memo once that one should not turn-on the hazard lights when driving through fog..would you know the reason behind that..?

..but, most of the drivers, are turning them on anyway..which is the safer way when driving through fog - hazard lights turned on or off..?

..are we having fog also in doha..?..would be there in a month or two..

I'd advise buying a more powerful car so that you can get out the way of the idiots, personally :-)

How many of us know proper driving rules, electronic signals, driving on round-abouts. Crossing a round-about is a tricky game. Everytime its a near escape in the round-about. Thankgod.

We cant advise all drivers... so better we shift to their driving style.... Zig Zag zig zag

Can I just add that fog lights should be turned off when it stops being foggy? Driving round with them turned on when it's now longer foggy tells everyone else on the road that you have the intelligence of an amoeba.

..no need to use any lights..?

made worse by..

..when am in your way..?..am afraid, already...

..thanks to the rest who validated my belief on the use, rather, on the non-usage, of the hazard lights when driving..

..had to raise this because i now have a daily passenger who do not believe me and when he speaks, he firmly believes he is an authority, lol...

I have a landcrusier and I have no need to use any lights, well excepts headlights when you are in my way.

Fog is just god's blanket and keeps me safe

i don't know also why authority didn't warn this drivers not to use hazard light when there is fog, i was debating one of my co - worker before when saw him using hazard light and his reason is " I only follow what others did" toinks.

Everyone seems to put on their hazards here when there is fog - it was in the paper a while back if I'm not mistaken that hazards should not be used in fog, however people don't generally know how to use various lights in their car, such as indicators and appropriate headlights, which don't either blind you from behind or are too dim to notice but make the car look 'pretty'

as per safety driving training and seminar lectures driving in foggy road just turn on your fog lights or head lights...USING OF HAZARD LIGHTS is not permissible.

Above comments and advice are true, the vehicle behind you will never know whenever you wanted to change your lane if your hazard lights are ON....SAFETY FIRST!

How would you indicate with hazard lights on? They are meant to be used only when you are stationary and a danger to oncoming vehicles. DO NOT use hazards while moving.

For fog, use fog lights. If your vehicle isn't equipped with fog lights, use headlights (low beam). Be extra careful. Turn off the stereo, ask kids to behave, etc....

PS: Foggy days are not over. There are always chances of some foggy mornings to March.

as described by Brit, it has to be used when in emergency or in breakdown conditions, harzard lights while driing in fog is not adisible beacuse if u want to change the lane it will not give indication and there are chances of accidents, so driving putting harzard lights is not advisible.

The traffic rules in Qatar also state what britexpat has written. Only to be used when the car is stationary.

Who follows the rules here anyway....

Hazard warning lights are ONLY for when you have broken down and may be a hazard for others. In fog, drive slower and use "fog" lights. (that's why they are so named)
