These days, most Laptops as well as Netbooks have what is known as VGA (Video Graphics Array) 'D' Type Connector.This is also there in Latest LCD TV's too.These are available in any computer shop.However to get the sound from TV you will need to connect Audio Out of your Laptop to audio In of your TV or make do with the Low level of sound from the Laptop. The best solution would be HDMI cable but as you mentioned,you do not have that output in your Laptop.

i am using compaq presario v 6000 model...
well...depends on what type of laptop do u have...if it has a hdmi output, or a normal VGA output. Post here the name and the model of the laptop
