offer from QP
Hello,
I have a job offer from QP. At the time of interviews, I told HR that I would be moving with my family from US and it was agreed. After accepting and signing the offer letter, I have been informed that Qatar immigration stopped issuing visas to family of the employee and that I have to mobilize alone and bring my family later. The time frame to change in the law is not known. After talking to HR, I was informed that the visas will be issued after I get the permanent residence anyways. No body told me this at the time of interview. QP will cover medical insurance to my family in US and other expenses. I don't know how long will it take to get my family visas. Could some one give me a word of wisdom in this case, as my family will have no medical insurance in US if I join QP and private insurance is very expensive ($1300/month)for my family. I have 3 young kids and a house in US.
me and 5 kids on tourist visas. The company (not QP) had to pay for the 7 of us to make 3 separate visa runs--twice to Bahrain, once to Dubai. After that the company decided no more families allowed in on tourist visas. QP may have a similar policy in place in order to save money.
Bachus - they would know, the minute their passport details were presented to the authorities they do a check to see if they is any prior visa link to Qatar and find they are already here on a visit visa. they don't like this.
Aw, jeeze, another roadblock/hoop/hassle! Relocating to Qatar has come to feel like a lobster-in-a-pot. The heat gets ratcheted up one degree at a time until it becomes unbearable. Mar, I suspect QP didn't know this law was coming, so didn't inform you. Same-old, same-old, sorry to say. It's not insurmountable. Talk to a specific relocation person in QP and see how they are dealing with this new wrinkle. A reasonable time for the processing of your RP is about a month. Ask about health insurance and if your family should come on tourist visas. If they can be processed in under 2 months you'd avoid a visa run to Dubai which, for 4 people, can get expensive. Ask if the visa run would be covered by QP (ha ha.)
Mandi
They wouldn't know, and a visa on arrival is perfectly legal. They would likely have to leave the country and re-enter once the resident visas had been arranged (e.g. fly to Dubai for the weekend.
He should check with his HR regardless.
Bachus - i don't think that the immigration department would permit them to come over on visit visa whilst sorting out the formatlities for full permanent visa under husband's sponsorship - just confuses the authorities whilst they are trying to process the full residential visa.
Best just to be patient - should not take longer than say 6-8 weeks.
I second expat and jjj75's advice. The insurance is likely global coverage, and you can bring your kids over on visitor visas while you wait for your and their RPs.
Ask you HR on how long this would take, but I wouldn't think more than a month.
Personally, if it's less than a month, my advice is for you to come and get settled on your own and then have your family join you shortly afterwards. Put them on one of the direct flights from the U.S. on Qatar Airways so that your wife doesn't have to work about changing planes in a foreign country. Also consider having a grandparent or other relative travel with them. It will help with the travel and when getting settled here, because you'll be a work and your wife will be exhausted.
Been there done that got the t-shit,cap and takkies, frustating at the time no o ne gives. Fig of what u go through with this procedure
QP the best???????? Omw???? After signng an idefinite contract with QP redundancy knocked on the door...(Hey gave us 2 months to get out no prior notification of redundancy????? QP the best with no one to fill the position. Coz it was due to Qatarization...?????? NOC was issued....still sitting without a job!!!!!! QP the best ...I'm thinking.....
QP is one of the best, just have a word with them and make sure every thing is in writing if possible. how about the new universal insurenace is it taking place there yet?
Yes it's normal. Don't think it will take long as I got my visa fixed quite fast.
QP is the one of the best corporation giving all facilities to employees but it will take time for all procedure Be patient and best wishes
Yes as stated this is normal.
Try checking the insurance cost with BCBS, you can check and apply online. I paid less than $600 USD per month.
This is normal. A lot of companies like the employee to come first and mobilise family after
Things will take time for your spouse and children to have their RP depends on your approved RP. They can always come to Doha on visitor visa for up to 30 days and extendable for another 30 days. This can be done and paid for by the company PRO. Once their visas are processed, they just have to fly out of the country, Dubai for example, and come back the next day.
If your children are in school, then it would be best to wait as most schools here don't accept children without residency visas.
For the insurance, they should be covered internationally. It's pretty standard for Expat's health insurance.
Hope this helps.
