Hi All,

Appreciate if any body can share some experience and reviews of Using a BMW X5, BMW is one of my favorite brand and i'm just going to buy my first car, my usage will be very minimal just routine office trips and weekend outings with my wife, but we both love BMW a lot, we don't have a big budget just trying to mange within what we have saved, but would like to Drive our dreams

how much will be for the followings

1. The Regular Service Cost and Main Service cost (What will be the millage required for regular services and Major Services)

2. Spare Parts (what if we are getting it down from Germany rather than going to alfardan any custom problems)

3. any special issued to be noted

i do see some real vehicle experts in the forums and its interesting read their valuable comments as well, in the same way if any body can shed some light would be a big help.

Thanks in advance

yoosoof: waiting for my comment???? hahaha you're embarrassing me...no but thanks and its my own pleasure...toyotas are the most reliable cars around, i'm sure you know...and land cruisers are almost bulletproof...with a little care and normal scheduled maintenance, they will outlast every other car on the road and without any care, they will still outlast every other car on the road...there's an old joke among the qataris and arabs that a person will die long before his land cruiser will haha but its a fact...you're saying 10 yrs old and 200k?....they will go 30+ years and 500k+....just go to the qatarsale website for fun and see the land cruisers for sale there...so many mid range GXR models selling for about 80000 rials and less than 150,000 kms...theres also many full options VXR models that are like 400,000 kms on the clock but more expensive than the low mileage GXRs...that shows how much life is still left in the engine...find a good GXR model, get it fully checked by the Toyota dealer and if they say its ok, you can just buy it, take your family to every corner of qatar and come back sleep in peace knowing it will start at the first crank next morning...you just need to stay on top of the normal scheduled maintenance like any other car and you'll be fine...please also read the post linked below...a chat i had with another QL user...to get an idea about Toyota reliability and the things you should check/change when buying a used car...as for spare parts, there is no shortage of Land Cruiser parts here and even if the dealer doesn't have something, they will still order it for you from abroad...find a good car and you have NOTHING to worry about and everything to smile about :-)

made me sad that you and your wife would like a BMW so much and that its your dream car...in any other case, i would tell you to just listen to your heart and buy it...i love cars and feel cars should be bought from the heart not the head...but unfortunately, the other comments are right and since this is qatar, i too would advise you to avoid used BMWs at all costs...they seem like a great deal when you buy, but can become a nightmare the moment they go wrong...I would say avoid Mitsubishi too...if you like SUVs and have the budget for an X5, you can definitely find yourself a good deal on an older Land Cruiser or a newer Prado...atleast you and your wife wont be left stranded on the roadside with blinking indicators on one of your peaceful weekend trips...with Toyotas, 100000 kms is just the start of their lives but with German cars, 150000 kms is nearing the end of their days...maybe you can explore the Toyota certified used cars and see what they have to suit your needs/budget...best of luck...

Really appreciate the all the valuable inputs, QL People are great , Hopefully try to stick with Toyota or Mitsubishi, But the Second Hand Car market is very much inflated and highly Priced, More than 5 Years with clocking in more than 100k in Millage - old vehicles are still priced more than the 50% of Current Market Price of the Brand New Cars and the YEN & USD market has fallen down as well.

i Checked out Some Pajeros 2008/2009 Models they are trying to sell around 60K where as 2016/2016 full option is 110K, How come ?

BMW is definitely a dream vehicle to drive. But when you go with used one, you have to accept the challenges as well. Unless you get a good used vehicle which is used very minimal then you are lucky...as far as i know...people drive here too bad! good luck to you for hunting down the right BMW for you. with regards to maintenance...whatever be the issue if your vehicle needs service...to open and see what is the problem itself you have to pay minimum of 500 QAR to Al Fardan. Then parts and labor cost are extra...all the best!

Drive your dream where they have real roads and highways. Qatar's road network is good to ruin every car.

Your statement - we don't have a big budget ' should be enough for you to avoid a BMW.

They may be easy to buy , but maintenance costs are high . If anything goes wrong then you're talking thousands .

My advice is to avoid
