Is it worth importing a Renault from South Africa to Qatar?

We have just been offered a position in Qatar however we have a Ranault Megan Cabriolet Coupe which is not even a year old.
Can one import a right hand drive?
What are the import taxes like?
Are there any special modifications required?
Does anyone know how much this car would cost in Qatar?

Many thanks

Depending on how long you plan to be in Doha, I would recommend either selling your Renault privately, or leaving it for the use of a trustworthy friend/relative until you return. Surprisingly, I've not seen a right-hand drive vehicle here in Qatar and wouldn't recommend it here (as opposed to other places where it's common to see both sorts). Roundabouts are particularly dodgy here, and visibility is generally impaired there (as well as during overtaking) when driving a car with steering on the opposite side to the local norm.

I have had the same problem when I came over. Had the vehicle put in storage and pay the installments. Not worth bringing it over as the vehicles here are much cheaper. To seel it is a bad idea as you wont get anything close to the amount you paid for the vehicle. Especially seeing that it is only a year old

I've never seen a right-hand driven car in Qatar.

Your best bet is to ask your HR, they should be able to put you in the right direction.
