Lift Kit and bigger tyres allowed in Qatar?
By Wüstenfuchs •
Hey guys,
I'm going to get a lift kit for my Grand Cherokee from the states. Is it possible to lift an offroader and put some bigger tyres on it here in Qatar? Does the technical inspection has to check it? Do the police care about such modifications? Has anybody experience in that?
Thanks in advance!
I'm also considering a lift on my Wrangler. There are dealers in Dubai for popular brands like Terraflex and WARN. Where did you buy your tyres and wheels? I'm considering 35s 12.5 wide which would mean 318/76 or 318/72. Checked with Tyseer but they don't have em.
Hey guys, thanks for your opinion. That's exactly what I'm planning to do pnguyen7912. I have an offer for a 2.25" lift kit for my grand cherokee. And yes more would give troubles in stability. These 2.25" give enough clearance for tyres 265/70R17 (or even wider) with small spacers.
i would not go over 2" lift on the suspension,.you still can go for a body lift as well but also not more than 2" will give you 4" clearance for bigger tires
There are some people with lifted Jeeps in Qatar, not really sure about legality. I've asked the shops and they said it was fine. Follow the other posters and check with the authorities.
Which lift kit are you getting? I'm thinking about it also but it seems that unless you put some major money into spacers, wheels and tires, a 2-3" lift would be perfect for the desert and pre-running. Anything higher would cause major stability issues. Just my thinking but would be good to hear yours.
Good luck.
Plus, when you take your car for the test/check every year, you will have to remove it and put back your regular tyres...
you do see a few trucks / 4x4's lifted and with bigger tires arround in town also a few shops in doha sell lift kits ,but there are expensive.
if you import from the us are you aware of the ammount of import tax to be payed on car parts?
thats is proberly one of the reasons that there is not a lot of modified trucks out there
Go to Airport Traffic department and check with them.
I would think they are the right people to answer your query.
People can say what they want, to be on the safe side, better to check with the authorities.
