Why are second hand cars so expensive in Qatar ??
I am due to arrive in Doha next month (March) and have been trying to research the cost of a decent make and spec of used car, upto 3 years old and with low miles. It seems to me that depreciation does not appear to affect the Qatar used car market as much as other countries. Any idea why this is?
Also why do car dealers in Qatar not have any online showrooms with prices, I have only managed to find one so far, Oasis.
Hi,
Practically, people they don't go to new showrooms prices survey and there is no standards has been set with any government or non-government authorities. any person who wish to sell his/her vehicle is doing on their own prices.(which is most of the times are very high and thats the reason people find it harder to sell and harder to buy).
Have a good selling and buying. (regards)
per house there are atleast 3 or 4 cars.
in doha you will find cars in very good condition.
thats why they are expensive.
Generally first 5 years are the best performance time of a car, its real depreciation won't impact. The market is small, demand for less than 3 years car is high, so obviously if demand is high, price tend to be high. But remember, it is always negotiable.
ITS MY FINAL DECISION
Dude,
Comparing to another GCC countries, Doha is the best, u can find reasonable rates for good Brands like MERC, BMW, Land Rover, Audi & All American Cars, if u r going for Japanese Made i don't think u will get very less as u expecting for second hand, Japanese cars never lost their values so easily especially in GCC Countries.

Yup thats correct, but you should pick best of the best of the best when buying second hand.
Unlike in Europe, used cars in Qatar are not taxed and hence they depreciate less as they carry a lower monthly running cost.
I disagree. Buying new you lose the biggest percentage just driving it out the showroom. After that it's used, no matter how many owners. the prices remain high as there is huge demand, especially for popular cars such as SUVs, Camrys, Tiidas etc.
Welcome to Qatar
For online showrooms you can check ttp://www.qatarsale.com/
& I think second hand cars not that too expensive, but not cheap also, and you have to live with it.
I prefer that you buy a brand new car... that's better so when you sell it back you wont lose that much money, but if you a second owner it makes different
good luck
