Bliss Spa Hotel W: bad choice

Muffino

As a self pronounced spa queen, I was looking forward to the arrival of Bliss in Doha. Hotel W usually impresses by the level of service from the moment of arrival (in addition to the great-looking guests). Not in the spa though - you are greeted by coldness, forced smiles and a chilly, almost medical like of atmosphere. Nowadays, when every new high-end hotel must include a veritable laundry list of amenities and features demanded by discerning travelers, luxury becomes defined in new ways, the level of service being perhaps the most important. At Bliss, arriving guests are not made to feel that they have been eagerly awaited and it seems like the entire staff is not eager at all to make sure their stay is as enjoyable as it can possibly be.

More specific, trivial complaints (I’ve been there twice, never again):
- The receptionist took my reservation not accurately and I had to repeat what services I wanted 4 times! on the arrival.
- English could be much, much better, difficult to communicate with.
- Facilities were out of services during my 1st visit (sauna, steam room etc.), although it’s a part of a treat.
- I bought a bottle of a product and when I came home I realized that I just spent about $80 on a half empty bottle, half of the product wasn’t there
- The first therapist was great for a facial (that I’ve previously done in the same spa in New York, so I know what to expect), on the second visit, I received the worst facial ever – a therapist kept talking to me even though I was just looking forward to relaxing… she put soap/cleanser in my eyes, so I had to jump off the table and run to the washroom to rinse it out… then she waxed my eyebrows by reapplying wax to the same place for 4-5 times and it left my skin burned and irritated for days… lousy massage, this girl felt like she didn’t touch a human body in her life… overall, terrible.
- And nobody smiles there… the place is empty and cold.

Much better, reliable options: Four Seasons, Six Senses, Glow American Salon.

Have you tried the Spa that is in Villagio? It is next to the ice skating rink near TGI Fridays. I just saw it for the first time and wondered if it is any good!
