Jarir bookstore has some good english books but the prices are not reasonable. I had to buy my son a cheap looking book on SALE for 60QR which would've been $5 usd, or less, at Barnes and Noble. I'm afraid to take my son there again because I know he will want books and I will be stuck paying prices that make me say "what?" when I convert the price to dollars. The problem is Jarir is probably the best choice to go look for books for kids so you're stuck with the prices. My husband tells me I have to learn to stop converting prices to USD if I want to ever enjoy shopping in Doha. I am trying, I don't take my calculator with me anymore except my phone still has one!
