Accommodation in Doha questions

CameraFriend
By CameraFriend

Hey,

I'm moving to Doha in April and been recommended this website.
I found it very useful although accommodation section is a bit unclear.
How can i find a room to rent? I don't want to pay many thousands and live on my own. I'm leaving behind all my friends and family and will be on my own so would need a flat mate to crack jokes with and talk about girls and stuff ;) (don't want to end up talking to my fridge if you know what i mean...)
I'm easy and don't mind where would my flat mate be from as long as he's clean and obeys the local law.
So far i've seen loads of flat mate adds but people seem to specify they want mates from THAT particular country. What if i'm not from THAT particular country?

Do people in Qatar socialize and mix or do they stick to their fellow mates from their own country only?
Is there any other website i should maybe try?

Many thanks!

i am here in doha, i landed here in december 2011. its been around two months so yeah i know a place, at the moment i am residing in a accomodation provided by my company, but i have room mate not of my choice, that is causing me some lack of privacy and some issues related to that, so i am looking of another accomodation. and i have friend here who would like to share room, so, we are two here ready to move to new appartment,

above Profuse, seems also interested and he is also coming in april so once you both come to doha we will meet and decide, by then i check out some appartments and we will then see......................

Master UBC that's great! 2000 is even better. Are you in Doha at the moment?

I'm not there just yet so I'm not sure which area's nice/safe etc but maybe you know Doha already?

i have searched that led me to this idea that we can have three room furnished appartment in the budget of 6000 per month, which means if three of us share the appartment the each of us paying 2000/ month and i suggest if any one of us would like to have room mate his share cutdown to 1000 per month..........do let me know if you found this considerable.

thanks

Great news gents!

I can see I'm not the only one in such position so will keep in touch on that one :)

Maybe we could hire a place and split the cost between two or three. I think 3 bedroom would work out cheaper than sharing between two. I was thinking QR3000 max per month per person? Obviously the cheaper the better but if we could maybe stick to that and see what QR9000 pcm rent could get us.

I was also thinking that it would be good to stay in one place for a year at least to avoid changing the address as that's always an extra paperwork and a bit of a pain, but lets see how it goes.

Stay in touch guys!

Metoyou and Timebandit - thanks a lot for advise. I think that's what i'll do - find a nice place and a mate to share with afterwards.

I've spoken to my employer and he'll find me some room for the first month so i'll have a chance to look around and find somewhere nice.

Master UBC - sounds good. Looks like i'm not going to need a room until May now as my contract starts on 1st April. I'm not sure if that's any good for you but if you like, we can meet once i'm over in Doha and take it from there?

at// camerafriend// manage to find your own flat and be sure that you'll find many persons looking for a room to share. And have the priviledge to choose a roomate. Good luck!

timebandit i have experienced that's why. It's very hard if your not the owner.

I agree with metoyou. You don't want to end up sharing with a Welshman do you? This way you get to choose.

i suggest that you get a flat or a room then after post in QL that you're looking for a roomate better for you.. ;)
