am I eligible to get my rights? (Consumer Protection)

I had bought a tab 5 months ago from a leading department store. At the time of purchase, there was a stamp at the bill saying 6 months service warranty only.

During these days, the display started vibrating and slowly generated horizontal lines. and finally it became full of lines in it and cannot be seen anything.

Approached the store again,at the reception, the girl immediately told sir there is no warranty for it. She even don't know how to calculate how many months from April to Sept...lol.

Gave it for warranty service..! After a week, received a call from the service technician saying there was big pressure on the tab and the display damaged from inside..! either its fell down or big pressure on it. I was wondering damaged from Inside?? Big pressure?? The unit is just like new and even cant any single scratch on the display or in the unit.

I asked him to show me a single scratch in it? then he told its sure.. its because of big pressure..! from where?

He concluded: There is no warranty for displays. This tab has sold with zero complaints. So, you have to pay for the display..! We cannot replace under free service..! We have ordered some displays along with our coming shipment. So I will consider your concern and give good discount for the new display..!

So, my doubt is why should I want to pay for the warranty service in the 6 months time? When I had a nokia E7 had problem during the 1year time, they replaced it with a new mother board without charging anything and still its working good..!

Doubt 2:
'm I eligible to go to consumer protection cell? Will I get justice?

The tab costs 489QRs.

thnx for the replies..

Visited the store in the morning. Had a nice talk with the manager. They considered my request. Either it will be serviced with a new display in a weeks time or it will be replaced with a new one for sure. Alhamdulillah...

Dear QLers... Thanks again for your valuable comments and shares.

About my tab:

It was a nextbook premium 8 SE tab with the below features:

Android OS 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

Easy Connect Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n

i believe, the warranty and how much it covers also depend on your passport ^_^

Do approach Consumer Protection Department. We had 3 QL success stories where CPD helped the consumer to get his due right.

IMO, the display issue should be covered under the 'Service Only Warranty'.

the tab worth more than the 489 i paid... 'm sure its one of the best machines available in the market. Just looking the brand and paying more for a product is not the concern for me.. instead, get the best featured tab with a good price..

Thanks for all the comments above. Will update in the morning.

I also observed and had experience if some thing found any problem then there is so many excuses that this problem due to your own faults, mean in the name of warranties here is big cheating. I have experience in Nokia mobile. In two mobiles was same excuse that is humid damaged and this is out of claim.

Why Bose? It's better to buy Bang and Olufsen as speakers.

Its not worth for fighting, You will waste a lot of time going here .. there .. wherever they refer you to go.You will just get headache and migrane to claim for the cost of item.

Anyways, you can still try that is your right as a consumer.

better to buy those branded tabs compare to unbranded one. those unbranded are disposable, even if you try to fix it, you will pay almost the price of a new one.

for that amount?

forget it...

it is disposable.

Go to the Consumer Protection with the Invoice which says 6 months service Warranty and see what is happening. You will not lose anything further for that.

There is no harm in going to them. Good luck!

Also, write to the head office of the department store and complain.

I don't hold out much hope, but worth trying..
