Put their names and phone numbers here. oh and one other thing, you cannot advertise your pet on QL when you are leaving here to get a good home, but these scammers can advertise for rental apartments .. What is the meaning to this??

I had a similar case of this advanced rent scam in one of the still vacant 3 storey building in Al Saad (# 38 Ibin Ziyad Street) with one Filipino sub-contractor/agent known to be by his nickname as “Harry”. The day after taking the two months advanced payment intended for a room in the said building, this guy promised me the availability of the Elect. & H2O connection by Kharamaa in 3-5 days. I did not immediately move in to the place owing to the non-availability of the Elect. and Water to use, instead initially agreed only to move in and sign the rental agreement once the connection is done. A week passed by and I visited the place again (week-end,Friday) to check, during the visit I met two Filipino guys fixing a new cupboard on the other side of the room. I’ve learned they just recently arrived Doha to rent one room of the flat and likewise been promised by “Harry” of the same for the E & W connection. To my surprise, I was told that they have been staying in the place for 7 days already even without the supply of E & W. Since an advanced payment was also taken from them, they eventually decided to stay hoping to get the connection as promised. (A friend told me that the two poor guys stayed in the place for almost a month just to utilize the 1st one month of their down payment being new comers in Doha.)

After three weeks passed, I then decided to cease of taking the place by reason of him (Harry) not complying with what he had promised. I then requested him for the refund of my money so that I can use it to look for another place. I asked him of what’s the problem for not having the connection done and was told that apparently due to bills dispute with Kharamaa by the actual owner of the building and the previous flat’s occupants. Since then he had promised me verbally a couple of times to give my money back in 1 week, 2 weeks and during paydays of his salary at the end of the month.

Unfortunately, three months had again passed and on numerous occasions I have tried to discuss the situation with him, called him and try to settle amicably, but he is unwilling to cooperate, declined to meet me and my demand for payment have been ignored.

This guy is currently out there, now hiding and moving places around Doha (evading people after him for their refund) after being terminated of his job with one of the government hospital due to various complaints of his easy money operations. This guy reportedly has a pending court Civil Case filed by the actual building/owner and certain people for not paying some amount of money collected for sub-contracting the building as per the agreement. I’m planning to make an official complained to the authorities against him and wanted some other people to do the same because I’m pretty sure they have come across him and likewise a victim of this guy advanced rent modus operandi.

I will post the details in time, but I am hoping for other members to share their experiences with this person. So I will probably give it 24 hours or so. We might even smoke him out as he has been re cently advertising on this site

i wish they would take personal copy of documents of those who are posting in their site so that it would be easy to track scams like this.. ;)

You know a friend of mine just rented a 3 bdr flat in Madinat Khalifa for 4,500. I thought it must be a dump but to my surprise it is not....

this’s for those who believes, based on the fraudulent ads in the papers, that the rent is going down,

how come this “Being a cautious person” didn’t consider the simple thing:

why on the earth someone would rent out a new 2 br flat for QR 4500, if these flats are going for 8500-9000 in no time?? Is that a new type of charity or what?
