Do it yourself maids renewal of visa
I renewed my maids visa today and the process was very, very easy and smooth. So smooth that anyone could do it. All you need is the maid's original ID and Passport and the ID of the sponsor. It helps if the person doing this is the sponsor as they need to sign one paper. There is no need any more for multiple photocopies, passport photos, etc.
If you would like to do it yourself I'll lead you through it.
1. Go to the Immigration building (near immigration round about) early and go to building 2 (they are clearly marked).
2. Inside you will find a counter to your right. Go there and take a ticket for the renewal of residents visas.
(NOTE: If there is no line-up in the immigration area you may have to do this step after no.3, but generally there are a few people waiting)
3. You will generally have a wait, so now is a good time to go to the photocopy, typing place. This is directly in front of building 2. Tell them you need the form for renewing your maids visa, give him the ID's and the maids passport. He will type something up that then needs the sponsor's signature (QR5). If the sponsor is not there you will have to get their signature & come back. (NOTE: If there is no line-up in the immigration area you may have to do this step first.)
4. Wait for your number to be shown on the display boards and go to your counter (numbers are in English)
It is very systematic and easy. You hand over the maids passport and ID Card and the sponsors ID card and say whether you want it renewed for 1 or 2 yrs.
5. The process will be done on the spot. You pay by ATM/credit card only (QR600 for 2yrs, not sure for 1yr).
6. You are handed back the passport and the new ID card by the lady who served you immediately.
Too easy.
Yes Renew is easy, It getting her the Resident Visa in first place that is the problem and is where the Shark Manpower agency make their killings.
Actually, all services offered by Ministry of Interior is superior an efficient. Yesterday, I renewed the drivers license, and to my surprise they did not need to retest eye sight. Which make sense anyways.
