Driving from Qatar to Oman

Hi,

I'm a British male living in Qatar, and have my RP. My girlfriend is coming out to visit and we are planning a weeks trip to Oman.

We are currently looking into the possibility of driving to Oman through the UAE.

I've read a few previous threads about this, and understand that it is possible for me to do this, providing that I get a transit visa for KSA, applied for through an approved agancy and permission to take my company lease car out of Qatar.

However, I'm unsure about whether this will be possible for my girlfriend, as we are not married and also she will be in Qatar on a tourist visa. I read on the KSA embassy website that a female cannot get a transit visa without being accompanied through the KSA by a male relative. However, I also read that a transit visa is not required if the period of stay in the KSA is less than 18 hours..

Is it necessary to have a transit visa to drive stright through KSA from Qatar to UAE?

Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom

Thanks for the advice. It's looking like it's going to be either completely impossible, or more trouble than it's worth. Flights are just so expensive to Dubai and Oman from Qatar, and also it would be exciting to drive through the desert.

not possible for your GF, as KSA allow only gulf countries residents to get a transit visa...

two solutions, either you both go by plane from here, either you drive and take her at the airport in dubai or directly in oman

As the travel covers KSA by road, better check with KSA embassy to make things sure. And since you have your GF with you, make it double sure so that you don't get into any sort of trouble at KSA border. The transit visa you mentioned is the one for airline passengers.
