Ear Wax. Do we need to clean it?
Recently, one of the Indian schools my kids go to asked them to have a medical check up done free of cost at a health centre located at the Barwa Village at Wakrah. My kid had wax in his ear which needed cleaning. "It would cost you QR.190/-" said the doctor. Not very sure whether we needed that we declined and lo! this is what I came across today.

Doctors have also started cheating. All this FREE medical check up they find some problem and recommend treatment at a discounted rate.
Err, yes!
Mandi
ask Shrek.
Ear Wax shall never be cleaned 100%
If it is too much and hard creating hearing problems then it will be better to clean. There are some medicines available in the pharmacies which you can use to melt the wax and clean it with cotton (not cotton buds) when it comes out of the ear. Normally the wax will get dropped when it gets dry but sometimes in some individuals it will stay soft/hard and will clog the ear drum creating hearing trouble, itching and uneasiness. It is not necessary to do the cleaning paying 190 riyals but you may seek the help of a private doctor who will most probably suggest you to use the ear drops to melt it. If it is very hard then he/she will do the cleaning.
I believe that my kids go to the same School and were to the same medical checkup that you talk about....
I was also recommended Ear Cleaning with a curt "Have you got insurance?" question. I politely declined because most of the doctors I have come across recommend to leave EarWax alone. They also subjected my son to visual activity test and said that he Eyes were all screwed up.
Better to take second opinion before taking any action.
