Hi
I am new to this site but have browsed it many times and found it very useful....however I have a question......I need to get to Canada from Doha....does anyone know the best route to take from here???
Many thanks
Alison
X__X thats way way way too long and an expensive way to travel from here to Canada. Take an airline from here to England then from England to Canada, thats what im doing. Its going to be an estimated 12 hour flight in total. (6 to eng and another 6 to can)
Last year we were coming back to Doha from TO and it took us 3.5 hrs to check in @ QA desk, not to mention plastic bag issue. Anyway we are going home next week and flying through Frankfurt.
I"ve done it a number of times and the easiest seems to be Lufthansa (it shares some codes with Air Canada and with Qatar Air from Doha). How you go definately depends on the final destination but through Franfurt is definately better than through any English airport right now and Lufthansa transits that way.
Wow...Thanks for all the quick replys.....I think flying to UK then straight out to Vancouver sounds the best bet....but definately NOT Heathrow...its a nightmare...Manchester will have to do.
It really deends on which airlines you want, your final destination, which European cities you wish to transit through, how long of a stop over you want, and finally your budget.
I don't know if its the BEST, but wife is going to Edmonton next week, her route is as follows:
Doha to Frakfurt (Qatar Airways)
Frankfurt to Calgary (Lufthansa)
Calgary to Edmonton (Air Canada)
All in all a 28 hour trip (including layovers).
Hope that helps, and safe travels.
Perfection does not exist. The question therefore, is: what level of imperfection are we willing to settle for?

we have tried BA and KLM to Toronto. So far we felt KLM seemes to provide better service. Both these airlines have more offers than any other ones.

i second ragnarock raider. The security check will take forever. Took us 3 hrs on our last visit in May :-(
This is just my opinion, based on my own past experiences....avoid Heathrow at all costs.
You're MUCH better off trying through France, Germany, or even Holland.
Oh and whatever you do, do NOT transit through the states, customs WILL be hell.

I guess the best route would be through London - Heathrow airport.
Also are you going to Toronto or Montreal:)
