H1N1 at Industrial Area St.# 34
There is a labourer staying in industrial area who is positive with H1N1 Virus and there are suspected 4 labourers also. The employer is keeping them in one room. My concern is what about the other labourers staying in the same building? Which government agency should the other employees supposed to call?

Qatar's Supreme Council for Health has said that 1,150 suspected cases of flu have been reported in the country out of which 350 A(H1N1) influenza cases have been confirmed. Most of the cases have recovered fully, while some 50 cases are still receiving treatment, the Council has said. Qatar has the third largest number of swine flu cases in the GCC, after Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, according to the latest WHO reports.

Am I right every_mother?
the patient is undergoing antiviral treatment and put into isolation.
Have no idea why HMC placed the patient on home-based treatment. Maybe they are avoiding the stigma in harboring a confirmed case inside the hospital premises.
"I don't go back on my words, that's my way of ninja"
noufal may be ur right.....but why the hell is everyone saying call HMC if they cant accomodate the patients.

Every_mothers comments "HMC will never send back if tested positive they will put in isolation" is not correct. They should be; but not .I heard they send back home the patients infected with H1N1 .HMC doesn’t have enough bed there.

Symptoms:
Influenza A virus infection (swine flu) can cause a wide range of symptoms, including
• fever
• cough,
• sore throat
• body aches, headache
• chills and
• fatigue.
Some people have reported diarrhea and vomiting associated with swine flu.
** i stand corrected. H1N1 as airborne or not is still debated, so again:

Signs that warrant seeking urgent medical attention:
For children:
• Fast breathing or trouble breathing,
• Bluish or gray skin color,
• Not drinking enough fluids,
• Severe or persistent vomiting,
• Not waking up or not interacting,
• Being so irritable that the child does not want to be held,
• Flu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough
For adults:
Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath,
Pain or pressure in the chest or abdomen,
Sudden dizziness, Confusion,
Severe or persistent vomiting,
Flu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough
Yes to that Xena... It is more of a health complication that makes it more "serious health threath"...

there's a pamphlets distributed by Supreme Council of Health regarding H1N1 and also HMC had issued instructions to consider all fever cases as H1N1 until proven otherwise, patients were given Tamiflu.
emn, that person (mentioned here) indeed was diagnosed to have H1N1 but he was not confined at HMC, but was released after giving Tamiflu..
as per my understanding as per SCH info: H1N1 is not airborne... if otherwise, none in Doha is safe...
Agree with jasskat as this can cause painic...

people into isolation. A friend of mine has confirmed H1N1. He arrived in Doha with it, and was sent home, as he had already been treated in the country of origin. Quarintine at the airport gave him masks and told him to go home and not leave for at least a week. This is what he did.
If the employer has put them in a room together they are basically quarintined - they must just make sure not to come into contact with others without washing hands and keeping there masks on... and the same with the other employees.
For goodness sake people, its just flu - normal flu kills too if you don't look after yourself...

it is against legal and moral laws to give peoples health information without their consent and here you are naming an address. You have no right to give this information to the pubic.
If this information is correct and they did test positive for H1N1 they would be kept in the hospital as there are very strict rules for dealing with cases of H1N1 here in Qatar.
all this post does is promote undue panic which could cause harm to those living in this area.
tra la la
if its confirmed..

According to other labourers, these infected ones were checked by HMC and was sent back to their accommodation. I called their main office and it was confirmed that one of the labourers is positive.
If all data is based on fact then this must be brought to the agency concern...
Dont confirm anything, if you dont know it 100%
if they were checked up in HMC and found infected they cant go anywhere..u shud directly call HMC regarding this and not to make a long forum here before you react and do something..
