Ballinkg , I met somebody from US consular , I never talk about you to them coz at that time I dont know you're real name ...but they said they have some sort of fund that you can borrow and repay it back when you get back in the states ..... I'm not sure about it becoz I was asking for other american who happen to be in your shoes right now ..they are a family ...and the consular said just come during 10 - 12 and you dont need to make an appointment and then talk to any consular and they said they do have some sort of fund to lend it thru government , so you can be home to the states ...... If I didnt forget about it i will ask that person next time I see him ......

Anyway you can ask for, and get, special clemancy from the Emir or someone else in the ruling family? Or anyone here do it on his behalf?

As it is the bank will never get the money repaid so they have nothing to lose letting you leave the country in order to gain employment.

There must be some sort of personal employment number you have so that the US federal government can track the tax you owe on any work you do. Give this to the authorities and get them to put a stop on a % of your future earnings and have it direstlt paid in to your Qatar bank account before it comes to you - called a Direct Debit or Standing Order in the UK, don't know what they are called in the States.

I know this sounds logical, and that doesn't always work here, sorry if you have already been down this route.

Uneducated fool...American-wannabee...i responded to your question with regards to your inquiry about enlisting in the US ARMY! I hope you can get in the ARMY and be sent to IRAQ. Talk english...that's not how english is taught in high school, right (if ever you finished high school)? You are one of those uneducated people who landed into a job and starts bragging about it. A fly who happens to land on the back of the cow, thinking he's taller than the cow. A monkey talking in english will still be a monkey, no matter how 'slang' your english will be. It's a metaphor, if you know what it means. I am a Filipino myself. I feel sorry for you.

Bullet,

I know you are a Filipino, but the way you talk makes me think you're not. Have you been mistreated by your parents when you were still a kid, that's why you reacted that way to people in need? Or since you claim to be a Tattoo Artist makes you feel proud of yourself, and speak to people that way? I feel sorry for you being uneducated and not raised properly by your parents. No one is asking for your opinion here. If you don't like what you're reading, then don't go to this post. If this is a SCAM, then wait for someone to prove it, otherwise, give the person the benefit of the doubt. He is asking for HELP, and not begging for MONEY. PLEASE, READ TO UNDERSTAND, NOT JUST TO RESPOND. No one is being forced to donate here, so keep your opinion to yourself and put it inside your sorry ass so that no one would ever hear it.

It's not because things are difficult that we don't dare, it's because we don't dare that makes things difficult!

Not everyone can go inside the US Base. I know it, i've worked there before. Not even a US Citizen. They need to have a clearance from the base before they can go inside, like a sponsor. Also, they can't just transport you out of the country otherwise ordered by the Embassy. All US Military personnel who travels to Qatar via the Air Base came straight from IRAQ. Anyone travelling back to the states must go VIA the commercial route. Apply on a construction/engineering company as a trainee for Health and Safety, or any other department. That way, you can expand your borders and not get stucked in just coaching basketball. I'll help you if i could find one.

I'll let yoiu know my priorities. 1- my first priority is to get out of doha and get back to America as quick as possible. When replying to goaboy what i was saying was i dont wanna be trying to sneak out of the country and putting someone else in jeopardy by helping to sneak me out. And no it is not possible to go through the american base. I have no desire to come back to the GCC so clearing my name to come back here to work is not a issue. 2-As far as my need it is simple a waiter job would not get it done for me. I hope this clearified my position priority and need for you.

Yes please update us as quickly as possible. I have faith that this mans story is true. I have somewhat been there myself. Not as bad as him but I know the feeling of being down and out in a country with no money. I travelled to morocco, rabat from casa blanca. I arrived on a friday nite. To my horror there were not banks open and none of the money changers would take a travelers check. I was totally out of cash. But thank Allah for the good people of rabat. I explained my situation to the clerk at the first hotel I stopped at and he gave me a room for the weekend. I did not ask him for anything more. And to my surprise he said here take this money you'll need to eat. I hadn't even thought about food at that point. his gesture was so welcomed and appreciated by me that I left him the biggest tip i have left anyone in my whole life.

Thank Allah he believed me or I would have been out in the heat for three whole days.

Ok thats my story and I'm sticking to it.

I am always excited to go to sleep! In anticipation of the new experience I will find awaiting me.

I would like to know,

1) what figures are we talking about? depends on that we can figure out if you can solve your problem working as waiter for some weeks or you will need to work as engineer in QP for years... it is not the same sort of help needed.

2) what are your priorities? goaboy told you can leave the country through the american base (I dont know if it is possible or not, anyway that's not the question) and you replied that you dont want that headache???? consequences??? If you can go out of the country (again - Im not sure, but if that chance is real), who cares about a non-paid loan in a local bank in Qatar??? do you think anybody is going to know if you have a debt in a little country in the Gulf?

So, is it your priority to go back home? (I assume your interest in coming back is low as far as you dont have any job here) or do you want to stay in the Gulf and thats why you are looking for a job to clear up your file in GCC?

I dont understand very much your position, your needs and your priorities.

Im not stating here that get debts and run away is a nice practice, but if you setup priorities in your life (you want to go back home), you have to assume the consequences (maybe they ban to come back, maybe they ban you in whole middle east... but at least, maybe you will be able to restore the debt later from US little by little...)

Somebody from the QL social group invite him to the next gathering, you seem to have plenty of them.

Then more than one person can evaluate this case and report back here with some hard evidence/or just convince the non believers.

Then, as BE said, some proper help can be sorted. There will be more support once some of the regulars here confirm it. Also, more advice might be forth coming once this is confirmed as a genuine concern.

I for one would not like to be in a similiar position, would you? ........... what a nightmare!!!

Agreed with kenyaqueen. British embassy is the same. Main role is to represent Britain in the country it is in. They will help citizens with the basics like renewing passports, and will act when an evacuation order is received, but they are not obliged to help people out of trouble they get themselves into (financial or otherwise). Of course they take each case on it's merits and act accordingly, but it's a common misconception that they're there mainly to help its citizens.

By kenyaqueen• 24 Aug 2008 10:33
kenyaqueen

just a suggestion folks, If your not sure about the fact regarding how the american embassy can or can not help their citizens you can always check on their web site.

Pope, your friend must have had other circumstances involved in his case other than being stripped of everything! Because it is almost unheard of that the will provide money loans to get ordinary citizen home even with a co signer. However, they do provide the assistance of getting a passport back if lost or stolen, they will provide advice only in legal matters, they will help you contact your family/friends and of course evacuation but very difficult to get any more help than this. Anyway if you folks have concerns check out some of the facts first.

I believe your story, I don't understand why you didn't borrow money from the states because that is where your are from. Why would your mother be in qatar with you if you are only there for a short time cause the basic health care is practically free there. Anyway I can help you with a few dollars so you can eat. But not until monday as the banks are closed. You can send me your e-mail address and I will arrange to send you something through western union.

amnesia,

I have been to the Ministry of Labour and the only advice that they would give was to find a Qatari to be a gurantor. Where is the Human Rights Authority located i haven't been there yet.

Actually I made my last post funny coz I feel bad reading comments of Red_pope in that way. Why people like to fight all the time. If you think some one is not right or you are not able to understand him. Let him do what he is up to. There will be no good in fighting.

Do live in peace and let others to live also.

thexonic,

To respond to your post they blacklist you FROM leaving the country which i found out when i tried to leave and they stopped me in the airport at the immigration station. secondly i have internet because the friends home i am staying in has it.

By amnesia• 24 Aug 2008 09:33
amnesia

Your solutions are simple.

Go to the Ministry of Labour and see what they say

Go to the Human Rights Authority and see what they say.

Go to the BASE and they'll get you out of the country.

It's quite simple. You are required to pay back your loan (it's written in the contract by the way) to get out. You can't pay it back without a job. So that is when the authorities intervene to help out.

I don't understand how the American Embassy is refusing to help you.

When i was overseas in 2003 an American business friend of mines, got mugged and his wallet stole, including all his baggage.

Completely strip down.

He did approach The US embassy, they loan him some money for food, rent for the hotel and bought him the plane ticket.

All he had to do, since it was a burglary, he had to get his police report, fill the paper work with an active bank account with proof of employment, the affidavit, signed by one of his family members as a co-signer for the monies loan to him.

He got re-issue a new passport and some cash for traveling for the amount of 2500.USD and left the country.

Know you tell me, If this guy can do the same.

How come you guys keep pondering he is American?

His justification does not match his clarification.

If he was living in this country, according to his statement for 7 months, at his own will. The Dumb Nuts, instead of paying his loan and trying to get the hell out of dodge, he choose to stay here.

I said again he is not American, just another Bozo pretending to be one.

Know that he has no money and facing eviction, know he wants help.

All he has to do, visit the consular services representative and explain his problem.

I hear St. Patrick was an Englishman!"

4) U can't eat but u have internet?

harsh for your side. But seems unbelievable that an American asking help here. But,why not?It happens in your country too. Those homeless people lining-up for food stamps & clothes at some charitable outlets. So, that someone who pointed out you to QL might have an impression that QLers are generous people?Hope you can find some.

And you're still lucky, because the authority didn't put you behind bars because they really do that for some loan offenders.

Red,

This will be my last reply to your ignorance because quite frankly it isnt worth the time or effort especially to deal with someone who is as unhappy with themselves as you are since it seems your only form of self compensation is this web page.

1.never was kicked out of my house by my WIFE not girlfriend.2 sorry but i am an American citizen but since i have seen some of your post it seems your hatred towards Americans is pretty pitiful.( must of been rejected by an American woman..lol or man for that matter)3.you are right my post didn't contain questions but a motive and that motive was to see if someone had any ideas how i could solve this problem (the most intellegent thing that has come out of your pathetic mouth so far). So dome a favor and keep your remarks to yourself especially when it comes to me since you have no significant or rather constructive advice..

LOL. You never had any real questions, Just a motive.

1-Here is the strange part of your employment, you got laid off, after three years of employment, but you did not use the money you saved in the bank, or your last monetary entitlements of employment, to paid off the bank loan.

2- Yet you decided to stay in country for 7 more months without a job, spending your money, on who knows what.

3- Probably you got kick out RECENTLY, from the house by your girlfriend or boyfriend and know you are finding your self in big trouble and homeless.

4- I don't even think, that you are an American citizen, just some Bozo pretending to be one.

Ballinkg, the help beggard.

Hey coach, How in the hell you expect me to follow your instructions in a basketball game? Specially, when you are asking me to call the US embassy for you!

I believe, that the one, in dire straights is you and not me. Do your homework and be honest to everyone.

Anyhow, your story has no essence, no real pain and it has no backbone to fill my cup of mercy.

What a coincidence?

Your story comes out to the lime light, after someone else post, about the woman beggars in Doha.

this guy has given out enough information now for anybody to verify if they want to check him out. If you have doubts, I suggest that's what you should do. He has come back to fight his corner, I for one will give him the benefit of the doubt.

He is not asking for any hand outs (cash), he seems to proud for that.

So lets give him a break and see what we can do.

Unfortunately I am of little help, not being an American, so cannot advise there, and not in a position to give anybody a job.

ballinkg ............ sorry you have been treated like this in what is a so called 'civilised' society (it is not as you have found out!!!)

Thanks for the comment but as we both see people read what they want to read even if it isnt what is stated. ignorance is bliss and as i see there are people who find more comfort in putting someone down and taking joy in another's misfortune rather than giving a helping hand. I hope that one day nothing bad ever comes to these people and they need the help of another human being.

bullet,

You should be careful with your words. Especially when saying that someone should commit suicide. Maybe you've though about that at somepoint in your life. if you have nothing positive to say you shouldnt say anything at all. There are people in this world who just open their mouths so they can hear themselves speak and maybe your one of them and if that is so to bad for you.

SOrry to hear about you. I wanted to tell you some thing. If you take a loan from a bank, that loan is already insured. If you remember the time you took loan they would have deducted some money or you would have paid some that is the insurance actually. Even you go back to america and never come back the bank never loses a dime. Infact they recover it by insurance. So be cool and dont think that you are black listed coz of loan.

Secondly the only thing you can do is find some job to get setteled first. And you will find lot of good people in QL to help you get one.

I really felt very sorry to know about your situation.

Good luck finding a good job.
