Karwa being irresponsible! (as expected)

My friend (the barber) had a terrible car accident 3 weeks ago while he was in a Karwa taxi car. The stupid driver was driving in the opposite direction because as most of Karwa drivers he is stupid, idiot, dumb and has no experience in driving like human beings. He was seriously injured. His right shoulder is broken, also his right hand and fingers were smashed, suffering from a terrible pain in his neck. After the accident, the ambulance took him to Hamad where he spent 2 days then he went back home. He cannot move, all day in bed, he is alone here, no cousins no family, he wont be able to resume his work before 8 months at the best, his employer can't pay him anything except offering him the room. IS THAT FAIR STUPID KARWA? Karwa Management must be responsible of this poor guy. They have to provide him a nurse because he cannot move at all, they have to pay him his salary untill he recover, they have to be responsible because they are the reason why he is jailed in his room, suffering from pain, having no money. They must at least pay him his salary for the coming 6 months and provide him with a ticket back home to Turkey and with a big apologize letter ... but in fact what they do is that they did nothing. He is afraid to sue them, he knows no one over here, got no money and the worst thing is that he is responsible of his family, sending money back on monthly basis for the education of his brother and sister, since his father is not there for them.

I mean, really shame on Karwa 100 times for being irresponsible and for hiring the stupid drivers who are responsible of the passengers, me, you, anyone of us, just because they want to make more money and hire low cost people.

This can happen to everyone of us, myself I used karwa many times and I can assure u that most of the drivers were very bad in driving and twice encountered small accidents while moving by Karwa. Just wanted to share the above because it makes me so mad.

So, as it is a must to update u regarding this story, the guy travelled back to turkey. We went with the lawyer, we took the police report and medical report and we have been told by the police and by the doctor that we should sue them and the police said litteraly: "people with minor injuries took 60 000QR and you broke ur shoulder and ur hand, contact kawra legally and they will pay u a big amount, it is ur right". the doctor said the same. The guy is convinced. The lawyer said we have all needed documents but its better to raise the case after summer time because all courts will be closed for the summer time. He said he can raise the case just after he comes back. so lets see what will happen at that time. i will keep you updated. by the way, the lawyer tried to approach karwa management but they did not take action like they r not willing to find a solution. they told him to gather all needed information and he can sue them and contact their lawyer. i think things will be fine ... he will get his rights by law.

Take it easy man...

I dont see people bleaming Haumn Rhitgs... its very easy blame a poor guy.

Karwa drivers pay QR 260 every day to rent the car.

Most of them earn 10 or 20 a day.

Only accomodantion is provided not even food.

Correct me if I am wrong.

I wouldn't blame them.

Yes karwa taxi drivers are irresponsible and they dont stop for male drivers as they are always on hunt to look for female passengers Its high time the management looks after this problem and solve the problem at the earliest

Krazysyklone: I went to the accident scene. He was actually driving in the opposite way but not on purpose. It was his 1st week driving a karwa car around doha after their unsless training. the driver was safe because the landcruider hit the back of the car from the right side.

nomerci: Thanks a lot for offering support but its ok, me and some of his friends are helping already.

Thank you all.

Who loses work visa over filing a claim for damages?

Tell him to go file a case IF karwa driver was indeed driving in the opposite direction which I don't believe anyway. Karwa drivers have a lot of flaws but I have never seen anyone driving down the wrong way.

Where I come from your friend barber is as important as the Emir or any other human being in this world!

Apparently and very sadly, it’s not yet the case in such a rich nation!

Only exposing sad cases like this (if possible to FIFA and other international organizations) will this country start thinking towards implement a full coverage welfare system for all those who live and work here!

What’s all with the fire works on the national day! When we read these cases it does not make anyone to feel proud of this so rich and carless nation!

I wish all the best for you and your friend and if you can, guide him towards the help he so desperately needs!

s_isale - Well he maybe nepali or any of those pathetic drivers. Its just that this drivers have not owned or even most probably driven a decent car back home but when they have come here and been given this flashy new cars then things have gone to their head and they think that the cars belong to them and you must notice their atitudes to really understand how bad they behave. As for being paid low salaries, most will agree paying them three times more will not make things any better

Yeah nic i seriously agree with you but since that person is not ready to go and file we need to encourage him so that he can file the case, now what is happen is happen we cannot change it but at least by doing that he will get what is his rights, sorry buddy i am really not sure of the laws here just that i want him to get well soon and get what he is supposed to get from the karwa department..

well said Nic. He should not fight to get the minimum rights! he has no idea what to do, remember that. Lets say that my friend is totally uneducated and got no friends in here, Karwa should be the one contacting him, taking care of him. They didnt bother to call!! can u imagine?

thank you people but I am posting this to share with you the bad experience that happenned to my friend. It is nothing. Actually he is not only my barber, but also one of my brother best friends and I like him much for having a good heart and being so polite to people. What am doing is just my duty. Am not doin anything more than the minimum. I will try to convince him to open the case. I knwo it is his rights and as said, if qatar was a 1st world country, he would be laying dowin in a 5 starts hospital, having good nursery services and they would definetly pay him a big sum of money but again, welcome to the 3rd world :)

jibran.scorpion,

The point is, the poor guy shouldn’t need to do anything to claim his rights and compensation. This should have been automatically done, by the social welfare system... obviously inexistent or useless in Qatar because the government is too busy flashing its façade rather than developing its core!

Unfortunate people that see themselves in disadvantage can only rely on charity as this government in spite of being one of the richest in the world, is totally unable to take care of its workforce (particularly if they are foreigners, as the great majority of people who work in this country).

A huge shame for such a rich country!

This should actually be published in the international media so maybe Qatar will start acting towards the creation of an adequate welfare social system!

You are really doing a good work man helping him, really u are worth to be a friend, I think he has to go to the authority in this matter, see may be even the management is not aware of the driver.

i am sure the government will help him come on they are not so bad even after having reports from police and hospital they will reject the issue!!!

Lets pray for your friend for his speedy recovery!!

If Qatar was a true 1st world country, this poor guy would have his rights fulfilled, but Qatar is not interested in common people like him, instead they just want to shine their shallow façades in the international stage!

Shame on Qatar for its substandard social and labor welfare and judicial systems!

This is the result of low paid drivers mostly from Nepal, Karwa is a public service company therefore they should be more responsible and good in service.

And just imagine if this private taxi operators were not around then the city taxi service would have been a big mess with just this Karwa taxi operators around. They should be sent for training and re training as often as possible and this guy who cannot go to work because of being involved in an accident in a Karwa taxi should sue them for lost earnings and all the suffering he has to go through now and in the weeks ahead.

By SambaCoool• 13 Jun 2011 11:50

He should not be afraid of anything..! he has legal right to do so..! Just go ahead and sue them !! Not even his sponsor can interfere in this .. He has all rights to claim the compensation for his injuries, work loss and this trauma..!

I got him the report from hamad hospital along with the report of police. I called a lawyer and they are ready to open the case anytime but he is really afraid to lose his working visa here. I understand him. He has back home family issues and he must stay here to earn money. I swear I am mad because he is too young, very polite and I feel like he is my younger brother. I dont know what to do. I tried to convince him but lets see.

Your friend can file a case in a civil court and ask for a compensation...Just he need to have a medical report from hamad hospital for his injuries and a accident report from the traffic dept. Once the case is filed, karwa has to pay the compensation money to yr friend..Wish him a good healthy life..
