i still dont have my rp.....i recently got a 3g usb modem on a friends rp , however i can not play xbox live using it, and i am restricted in internet downloads because of it (limit of 5 gb only), now my neighbour is moving out of his house, and has offered that he would give me his landline and adsl line, he would pay the bills that the phone has, and he would take 500 ryal from me (all the charges and the bribes he had to pay he claims), in turn he would wait untill my rp comes out so that he can transfer the line to me, this way i do not have to wait for months untill qtel can install a landline and then install a adsl line......that said......the line he has is only 512 kb, i want a 2mb line, will qtel allow the change without a huge hassle or do i have to get my neighbour to come to a qtel outlet and sign papers and stuff....advice is very much needed, i need to give him a reply as soon as possible...

This technology has just launched by Q tel...very limited connections available now...you may check with Q tel..if it is available in your are...here you can go for any connection speed from 512 Kbps to 4 Mbps.....

All you need to have is a Wi Max adaptor which will be connected to your laptop....a user name and password....

The adaptor will not cost you more than 150 QR...

What is Wi Max and how is that different than an ADSL line? Thanks for any info, I'll need to get a connection soon for a planned apartment in Qatar.

that was quick lol, the bribes was for the people conecting his line, he paid them 200 ryals so that they would connect the line from the bottom of the building to his apartment, and i saw the speed of the 512, it was pretty slow, i got used to the lightning speed of the 3g so i thought 3g was 2mb i should get 2mb adsl line, i am just confused as to whether or not wait for a couple of months or get it now in his name...now as in a couple of hours....

See here's the thing. The 2mb adsl connection costs 400 riyals a month where as 512 costs 200... There is no such thing as bribes so he's lying about that part. No one in Qatar accepts bribes.

If u want to upgrade the dsl to 2mb u need the landlord's permission or signature, cuz the line belongs to the land lord not your neighbour. 3g connection is not a good choice for xbox live. Neither is 512 mb, halo 3 doesnt work with me, but i can play burnout paradise easily. It would be good to have 2 mb connection.

By the way, the land line costs about 100 riyals for 3 months rental. Local calls are free, calls on cellphones are to be paid by the minute.
