Open .ashx Files Effortlessly...

Here in Qatar Living I am regularly publishing some ordinary tips and tricks that many normal computer users can grasp effortlessly. Just as they don't know about the simple methods most of the time they are calling IT experts to resolve the issues. If you noticed my previous posts then you already know about how I am doing. But if you are a new follower then here is a very short introduction from my end...

Well let’s get back to the topic again. Today I got a call where someone seeking advice on how to open a .ashx file. He received an email with an attachment which was a .ashx file. Well .ashx file is ASPX.net specific file and if you are interested about technical details then here is a good discussion in stackoverflow. But I assume most of my followers are not willing to dig deep the complicated technical ground rather just knowing how to open a .ashx file they need to open instantly. Okay to do this just follow the under mentioned steps.

- Right click on your .ashx file.
- Rename it to .pdf. Let’s say your file name was myfile.ashx now rename it to myfile.pdf.
- Double click on the newly renamed file to be opened with Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Thats it! So pretty straight forward na? Well without changing the extension of the file you can open it using any web browser too. I assume you can open the type of file using any text editor like notepad too. To do this just right clicks on the icon and then go to “Open with” option and then select either a browser or notepad.
