Qatar Law on Unwed Couple, Woman Pregnant

By lhinggitcf

Hi, anybody who has an idea about the country's law on unmarried couples living together and the woman being pregnant?

Jailed (for how many months) and deportation? Lashes for women as well?

I dont like the tone of PERSON in "sticky situation"

Really......When you are in qatar, you agree to the laws, rules and regulations of qa. So if the penalty is death........It shouldnt sound too barbaric. The word marriage means commitment. Anyone taking bigtime relationships lightly are not someone we would like to be in company with or worse support. Candyfloss events in casual relationships are very much commonplace and acceptable (to and extent). Pregnancy is reaaal big.....Either way....What the heck were you thinking lhingqitcf...If you think you can get away with it without issues.....You can see that malicious grin on my face

Marry her so she can receive proper care or move her out of the country. Do either before she starts to show. Good luck.

uh oh ur in trouble! I say get out of the country asap before she needs pre-natal care in which authorities may come to find out. If the pregnancy is completely unwanted and still in the very early stages, she can ask for a leave from her company, go abroad and get abortion and come back. But definitely don't stay or let anyone find out, penalties are tough!

There would be lashes and deportation is confirmed but I think death penalty could be. If you have done it then leave this country as soon as possible (both you and your partner) if not so don't think to do so. There are several articles u can find in Saudia and Qatar in different forum regarding the same. So if this is the situation, then save your & your partner life or get marry.

Either get out of the country, or get married right away if you can obtain the necessary documents quickly enough (and dont ask me what they are, I suppose the instance doing the officiating ie. your embassy or the local court will tell you).

If it so happens that this pregnancy is completely unwelcome, she will also need to leave the country for a while if you know what I mean.

Her and the baby's health would also be a concern here as I understand you need proof of marriage to get prenatal healthcare.

And yes, you would be prosecuted for immoral relations, of which the pregnancy is proof, and the penalties are not lenient.

For me it is insane but what do you expect, we are in Qatar...(better not say any more in case I get in trouble myself :)

I would be tempted to get the woman out of the country before the authorities know that she is pregnant.
