Iam an Indian, Mechanical Engineer
with 13 years of experience in oil and gas working in Bahrain presently got an offer in qatar with a salary of 7000QR + 4000QR Allowance. Wheather this offer is ok.Iam planning to relocate by may 1st week & after the residence permit my wife will join with me. I need to know about the visa formalities to bring my wife. Is
there any salary cap like we have in kuwait and UAE or any other visa category is there. And also what will be the rent for a single bed room flat furnished and unfurnished. I will be working either in Al Khor or in Mesaieed Industrial City which will be the best area for me to stay with safe and good family life. Since i have no idea about Qatar kindly guide me.

The guy is saying: 13 years of experience in the field. I don't think that he is planning to come here alone without his family. How can i live with my family a good life, not very good. If i will pay 5000 only to get 2 rooms, bathroom and a kitchen and in a villa? What kind of privacy do i got there?

Don't tell me it is not necessary, you at least have a place to live. This is not right, true and it does not work. What kind of life should my children expect? I don't want that kind of life for them.

It is more than clear, I guess that the man had to come here and see after he sign the contract. It would be a waste of time to come here, look for someone that you know here and ask him. The beginning is going to be very hard, but who knows.

Gentlemen,

Reality is:

A basic apartment is going to cost you: around 8 - 10 K / month.

Sorry, but I don't feel I'd be helping you unless I gave you the truth of the situation down here.

If what you're looking for is only a room (furnished or unfurnished), then that's a different story, because that will not cost you as much.

The allowance that you have, in my opinion, is sufficient for a "room".

Everything said put aside, I would highly highly suggest that before you do your move, it is ESSENTIAL that you visit Doha, and get an idea of everything: ranging from the real estate rental price ranges, to the cost of living in general.

This is not the first-time a question like this has been posted. There are many many threads about the same issue and the same questions that you have posed, so make an effort into visiting all of those previously posted topics (the most recent one to get an approximation of current prices).

Your friends are right, Doha is cheaper than Dubai but still. It is getting expensive everyday, but if i was asked to choose between Doha and Dubai. I will choose Doha of course, at least you can survive here, but Dubai no way man.

DONT COME ON THAT SALARY.

both mesaieed and khor is hmmmmhmmm okie dokie...dont want to say anything bad lest the people living there take offence.

if given a choice...i wouldnt locate to both those places.

your basic is ok....but what about the rest of the allowances. and for mech eng they should pay more basic.

rents: 6000+ for a tiny 2 bed place

car loans: 2000+

school fees: even if you dont have kids now...you need it added to your contract

air tickets to and fro during vacations.

other expenses:groceries are not getting any cheap. keep 2000 for a month.

now try to figure out the rest of the expenses.

happy heart

drive safe because someone is waiting for you at home

King Edshell,

I got the same offer for either Doha or Dubai. I choose Doha because i called a few friends in both Doha and Dubai and all advised me to take the Doha offer rather the Dubai one due to lower cost of living. It seems that everyone has thier own point of view and to be honest it is getting me confused.

If you have a family, this is nothing man. The house rent would be like:8000 - 12,000 if you were lucky an I'm talking about a flat not a villa. It should be at least 18K. If you were applying at QP, then you should get more than 20K. Life is getting more expensive every second here and only god knows, these [real estates lords] are moving with this country toward what. No one can stop them and it is more like a Mafia job.

Let god be with the all of us.
