"Rents are going down,Rents are going down", is what I hear from many but where actually? The apartment where I have been putting up since last year has put up a notice of rent increase from next month.I was anticipating a drop and quite amazed to see the notice pinned up on the front door. Now was that all a rumour or am I being taken for a ride by mine...?

My rent has reduced by 15%.

Yes quickgun, i have heard that too... that there are chances that the rent will rise again after december. It is better to get a good deal before that.

UK if u have the one year subscription of moziac, if u cancel u will still have to pay the monthly fees unless when u want to move to another place then they can transfer it to you from your current location to the new one

Call his bluff. You'll get a much better deal playing the field.

Stream this one and get Moziac at the new place!

GodFather.

looks like my Landlord gonna make me leave my current Villa. I asked for a reduction he said no and kept the rent same for the next year! So should I stay or should I go. I was having Moziac installed today for the Liverpool V Man U game. But had to cancel the installation because of this uncertainty..

Very frustrated today!

Friends is there a possibility that once Qatar gets to host world cup of 2022,the rental would sky rocket from December on?

Why you are sticking there. Rents are falling in many places so look for a reasonable one and move.

I heard the compound villas opp Papa Johns in Matar Kadeem are priced at 8.5K/ month.... are you in one of those?

By Arien• 19 Sep 2010 11:21

Colt you are right. My appartment was 12k, landlord reduced it to 8500 from May. I moved to a compound villa for the same rent (8500QR).

Those who have got it increased and those never got a reduction in rent is overpaying, simple.

Pack and move.

Some of the villa rents in Matar Kadeem dropped from 12K to 10K... I know of a friend who recently moved into one :-)

There's no doubt that apartments are cheaper then they used to be but villas don't seem to be affected by the rent decrease that much. I'm hoping once all the commercial ventures have been moved into office blocks the villa rents will come down.

Rents have gone down by atleast 30%. However you are already a current resident and unless you threaten to move out the landlord shall feel that he can get whatever he wants. Apts in my area were QAR 10k now you can get 'em for QAR 6 - 7k (a brand new building with 57 apts has come up across my apt - has been empty since a year - apparently the landlord wants one company to lease the whole building). Point is there a no takers and so this is surely a buyers market - compare this to the year 2008.

Generally once settled, nobody wants to take the trouble to move out - tht way you lose your negotiating power and most probably your landlord will take advantage of this :-)

After the Air Force R/A ...there is the Barwa Village... renting out for QR 3,500 all empty....with all amenities...

Also Ezdan Village(??) a little ahead.... QR3,500 with hardly any takers.... with all amenities...

People on QL ridiculed me in 2007-2008 when I predicted that price range.... and I know who they are :(

There are more apartments coming up... you think the prices are going to increase?

By KHATTAK• 19 Sep 2010 10:24

Your landlord might have issued the increase notice to counter a possible demand in reducing the rents from the tenants.

You used to pay 21K monthly house rent???

It depends on the landlord. They are supposedly going down but when I moved house 3 months ago there was no way any of them had been decreased!

I also know of houses that have been increased from 8k to 12k in the last month.

Our rent dropped from 21k to 16k. Almost 25% drop. Move on if the landlord isn't playing ball.

Rents are going down, if your land lord is increasing the price, it is your call. But, if you all of the folks say they will move out, then he will for sure drop the price. Moving out now is not a bad idea if you have a a land lord who is after the money.

By anonymous• 19 Sep 2010 10:00

10% drop at least is adequate.

Rent's in my block have dropped from 12k to 9k in the last year!

If your landlord puts the rent up, leave and go somewhere cheaper! That will teach him not to be such a pillock!!

It's tough to say exactly - the market is all dependant on where you live and what type of place you're in. Some units are going down in rent, some are staying the same, apparently some are going up! If you're not happy just find something else...

quit the place.
