Saudi: can someone give me advice ?
Hello
I am currently considering a assistant professor position for a university in Riyadh - SA. I am a new PhD graduate but am from North America (though my roots are arab). And I'd be going alone (I'm in my late 20s)
the offer they gave me was:
12500 SAR / month salary
25 000 SAR/ year for housing
I am thinking this a little low. Also the housing allowance seems very low. Can anyone offer me some insight or wisdom.
thanks in advance!!
peace
Kareem
I am really sorry
Western expats working or western companies ge westerncompouns usually. I have met many professors from the university No got western compounds. Also, ink.. is fresh graduate with no prior experience, so the salary will be low..
heavydrive and his clones. His trip to Doha was in May.
who on earth would consider going to saudi. Are you that desperate for a job to live like a slave ?
The country is not worth it, the salary is surely not worth it. I have lived in Riyadh for 5 years ....
I know that when we were in Saudi teachers in the elementary schools made more then that. Not to mention the housing. Granted we left 6 years ago and the rates are going up.
I would really think long and hard about your decision. Not to mention being a single young male and no social life.
Best of luck to you.
When wre you there?
I left two months ago. Rents have gone up 40% in two years. I just left an unfurnished 4 bed villa and was paying 60K. The cheapest 2 bed flat is now 30k.
really Saudi is complittly deferent than any other place
i spent 6 years there it is not that good place to live
salary i think it is low
h a is ok since the rents are much lower than here
Alexa is right.
The salary is fairly reasonable for a graduate position. he housing is not. 25k per year will get yo a singlr bedroomed flat. My advice would be toask them to provide housing. The university hs quite a good complex. If not, u need at least 40k a year.
Good luck
