Shipping Company Warning

Agape International Logistics Qatar Co.W.L.L

I wish to warn people about this shipping company. My nightmare with this company began in July.

Nixon Chacko came to my home in Qatar during June 2013 to give 3 quotations for my 2 shipments, one with 17 boxes to Cape Town, South Africa and one with 2 boxes to Shenzhen, China, and my sister’s shipment to Ras Al Khaima, UAE. Delivery time promised, 4 working days.

We were told that they would supply boxes and bubble-wrap my Samsung TV. Whilst packing we ran out of boxes and phoned to get more, problems started here. On the day of collection people who could not speak a word of English and without company overalls arrived without bubble-wrap and the promised extra boxes. I wrapped my TV with an extra duvet.

On the day of your departure from Qatar Nixon finally arrived with the 2 promised boxes and to collect his money.

Cape Town delivery: After many e-mails and phone calls to enquire about my shipment, the airway bill number I managed to get a tracking number from Cape Town customs; my shipment was in Istanbul, Turkey. I phoned Nixon to ask about the delivery date and I was told by him that my shipment was already in Cape Town, clearly a lie. When my shipment finally arrived in Cape Town, a week later and 5 weeks after my departure from Qatar, I was told by the delivery company in Cape Town that Nixon did not pay them. Many e-mails and phone calls to Nixon was replied to with and lies, lies and more lies. It took almost weeks to transfer money to the company in South Africa! It took 6 weeks to get this shipment from Qatar to my house in Cape Town!

Ras Al Khaima delivery: I don’t have all the details of the timeline, but all I can say on behalf of my sister is that this was a nightmare experience. She paid for air shipping and the shipment arrived on a truck all the way from Qatar, through Saudi Arabia. Boxes were damaged by water, this clearly happened in the storage facility in Qatar, and some of the damaged boxes were open. Clothes that were in the damaged boxes were completely ruined and was thrown away. A number of Items were also stolen. The total amount of damage was about 5000 QR! Agape/Nixon would not compensate her for the loss and simply said they have never has such a problem and they don’t know how this happened.

Shenzhen delivery: On the day when Nixon came to give a quotation he said that he had an agent here in Shenzhen. I e-mailed Nixon during the last week of October 2013 I asked him to send my 2 boxes. After 3 weeks I asked for the airway bill number and nothing came. Many e-mails later and no action, finally got an e-mail and Nixon said that there is a problem with customs. A few e-mails later and I got the contact number of the so called agent in Shenzhen. I phoned this so-called agent and he said that he got an e-mail from Nixon a week earlier but told him that he does not do personal effects. Nixon clearly lied about having an agent here. I managed to find a company who would help me and decided to e-mail their details to Nixon. Many e-mails were exchanged and my shipment finally arrived in China 6 weeks after my request. Nixon told this company that he would not pay them because they are too expensive. I paid Nixon for door-to-door delivery and now I am left here in China to arrange delivery and customs fees.

Stay far away from this company!

After they have taken your money, you will have endless nightmares and stress.

Can anyone please give me the location of their office in Doha? The same issue happened to one of my colleagues. Paid the money, things were collected. It's been more than 2 months no response, no shipping.

I know this is an old post but for anyone searching info on this company: I've recently had a similarly bad experience. My things were picked up at my home in Doha three months ago and so far I have received no Bill of Loading, no ETA, nothing, despite numerous emails, phone calls and even visits by myself and friends in Doha. Even an email from a lawyer didn't have any effect. I don't know if they're actually shipping my stuff - I have no evidence that they are! So stay away from this company. The hassle is not worth the money you save!!

There are 85 % of expats living in Doha who eventually one day will return to their country of origin. That was the case with me and my husband after 7 years of living in Qatar.

There are many things to resolve when going back and one of them is shipping all possesions and belongings from Qatar to your destination. We (unfortunately) chose the worst company in Qatar- Agape International (Mr. Muneer and Mr. Nixon) to ship our things and we seriously couldn't have chosen worse company! We are posting this for all expats out there in Doha- to at least know which company TO AVOID when shipping your things back home.

Not to go in many details but just to highlight some important facts- everything was going relatively ok when we were preparing for shipment, that is at the sales stage of their contact when they were assuring us that eveything will be handled professionally. After when we decided to ship our things with Agape International they had a few unprofessional glitches- such as promising that they will come at certain day/time to collect the boxes and then cancelling last minute, etc. But living in Doha and experiencing these type of things everywhere, we didn't think much of it. The day all our things were collected by Mr. Muneer from Agape is the day we paid the Invoice in full (3rd February 2014). We were leaving Qatar in the next few days and we were assured by Mr. Muneer that all our belongings will be shipped on coming Sunday (after 2-3 days).

We thought that our items were shipped and we were expecting our first shippment to arrive after 2 weeks (few boxes we sent by plane). We were emailing both Mr. Muneer and Mr. Nixon to follow up on the shipment but we were receiving no response. Luckily my husband was going to Qatar on a business trip around that time so he chased them up in Qatar (after many ignored emails and phone calls). It turned out that they did not even ship our things yet more than 2 weeks after they collected all our items and we paid them for shipment.

Finally they have shiped our things (not sure they would even do it then if my husband wasn't there!).

In addition to plane shipment, all our major items and many other things were sent by boat and we have paid for insurance against damage and loss of certain valuables (we paid additionaly for this). We have been waiting for 2 months now and we still did not receive the insurance policy for this!! We are not receiving any responses from Agape International and we have emailed them many times and tried to call them. On occasions when we were able to reach them, they would tell us they will send us the policy which was a lie because we never did. Also, we do not have any response or update about our boat shipment status so we are very anxious if we will ever receive it given our experience with them!

We have now filed a case against Agape International through Ministry of Economy and Commerce and we are also in process of seeking legal advise on how to resolve this.

In brief, if you need professional company to handle shipment of all your belongings so that you get what you paid for as well as receive your items in promised time, we advise you to avoid Agape International and Mr. Muneer and Mr. Nixon Chacko!

We hope you have better luck when shipping your things. We are not able to advise you which company is good, but at least avoiding the bad ones is a good starting point...

The funny thing is in this shipping and logistics companies they have more managers then other office workers. and nobody knows whats actually going on There was this Swedish logistic company where every third guy was a manager of this and that including one fat brother as operations manager, another brother in law as warehouse & logistics manager and so so on.. The end result being a complete disaster of the delivery process
