Softer approaches to mistakes
Copy pasted from another thread that got deleted by Mods - Stone Cold said The tendency of new QLers posting in their own language is becoming a trend now. Trouble is when the advisory reminder comes, it seems to be esteem degrading and offensive. Just shall we make a flagging and a softer approach."
Now only? Lol! It's a trend with every new batch of people to Qatar. :P Population here is transient, after all. The oldies are so tired of seeing the same queries repeated and wish that people would do a proper search instead of asking a stupid question, forgetting that there is no such thing as a stupid question.
Agree to putting them right nicely or if irritated at what is perceived as a stupid question, just ignore. Many newbies to online forums can't take direct statements and get all sensitive and upset. Understandably. They come on QL to start finding their way around Qatar.
To all newbies, welcome to Qatar and hope you guys and gals find your niche. It's a great learning experience here. How you do depends on your attitude - adaptability, flexibility and positive outlook despite the difficulties. It would also be good to drop the egocentric perspectives, if any. And people are generally similar, no matter what their nationality so have fun learning from other perspectives.

Oops! To add on to my disjointed train of thought above, to tie in with Stonecold's post which I copy pasted...
"The oldies are so tired of seeing the same queries repeated and wish that people would do a proper search.. "
- to know the rules of the forum - English on the main forums only, etc.
But note that members who are really truly busy with so many things to rush at work and limited time to do research and when new, they are really lost. I was. But I was thick skinned so I ignored nasty remarks about my stupidity. Not my problem as not bothered to live for other people's approval.
