What is the process to change jobs for an open ended contract person who has completed more than 10 years.

Is visa cancellation and exit mandatory?

Or

can he stay in Qatar and change if he has a new contract in hand? Should the current employer give any kind of approval to change? (only acceptance of resignation with notice period as per law should be enough rt? )

If an exit is mandatory can his family get exception to stay and can he exit and come back the next day and will his family's visa get updated to his new visa.

or

Should he cancel his family visas before his company cancels his? is cancellation necessary?

Is there option to change without exiting. does anybody know?

Thank you shahadav. it is a relief. If an exit is necessary I hope there is exception to allow the family to stay back. Otherwise its a huge task of cancelling the house contract, selling furniture, packing into boxes, school admissions, wife's job and car and many more. and then come back and do all these all over again. Hope the govt understands the situation and allows people in genuine situation to stay back and change even when the employer refuses NOC after 5+ years. If exit is a must, then allow the family to stay back for additional three months after the cancellation so that they can sort things and will be an easier return.

Thats wrong. you don't need NOC to change job since you have completed more than 5 Years. Just a formal resignation serving 2 months notice Period.

Now regarding change of sponsorship without exiting qatar, i think it is not possible without sponsorship transfer documents from you previous employer. but i may be wrong since there are many things unclear about the new law.

In either case, you are free to change the job without any ban.

Then go ahead and try. New law is applicable for contracts entered after 17 Dec 2016.

Thanks Lucky Luciano. but that situation has definitely changed. Qatar government has made some good efforts to change things. But each situation is unique and as expats we are just trying to understand the situation better.

You need NOC or suffer 2 years ban. simple as that
