wants to borrow nikkor 18-200
hey guys, just want to ask if there's anybody out there willing to lend me their nikkor 18-200VR. i'd like to try it for a while before i decide on buying it(if you guys don't mind)pleeeeasseee... am still thinking if i gonna ditch my sigma 70-200 f/2.8 for the 18-200VR. what do you guys think? am not a pro, just a casual one. thanks in advance..: )
d, i was thinking the same thing.i only have a crop sensor(d7000)LOL. my plan actually is to get an 18-200(as a walkaround),and get an 85mm(0r 105mm macro), f1.8 for portraits. that is all will just be in my bag.am having a hard time switching lenses most of the time, and usually i'm using the 70-200 as my walkaround(so big and heavy to carry)
we'll see,i'm still weighing things.too hard for me to let go of the f2.8 sigma70-200, i've got a good copy, it's sharp.
thanks for the input d. : )
Hi cd, Good Choice. But I'm not sure if you have a full frame or a crop frame. The 24-70 f/2.8 is an excellent lens but is best only on Full frames. If you're full frame, definitely go for this, but if you're on a crop frame, the 24mm end will translate to 36mm in the wide end and this is not wide enough for what you're expecting. Also it doesn't make sense using a 24-70mm on a crop frame.
Instead go for the 17-55mm f/2.8 . The 17mm end could be very handy for group shots and landscapes and many other applications like exhibitions where you'll be on a tight space with no space for movement behind. On the other hand, you wont miss the 55-70mm range much....
hey djus, thanks for the comment.you're right, i'm having a hard time with the 70mm end, that's why i am thinking of an all around lens, though, the f/2.8 will be a great loss for me if i'm gonna ditch the sigma.sharpness is also a problem in the 200mm end. if i can't get 18-200mm, i might just have to wait to get myself 24-70 f/2.8.don't know, we'll see. thanks
hey ricky martin,i don't know what the f**k you are talking about...
Why do you want to get a cheap lens while you have a pro grade one? the Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 is a fast lens and only a Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8 can replace it. On the other side, the Nikkor 18-200 is a cheap beginner level lens (low image quality) are you willing to downgrade? don't do it.
If I am not wrong, your problem is, the 70mm end is not wide enough for normal shots.
So instead of trading your better Sigma, keep your it with you and buy yourself a 18-55mm kit lens (if you're on a budget) or the 17-55mm f/2.8 which is again a High Q lens.
Note: the smaller the f number the better and faster the lens is. Yours is f2.8 and does not vary while zooming. The 18-200 is a f/3.5 to 5.6 - meaning it is a slow lens and gets slower to f/5.6 when zoomed into 200mm
Hope i have given you the picture..
