What do i need to do if someone borrowed money and not paying me
What do i need to do if someone borrowed money and not paying me? A friend of mine borrowed QAR 11,000 from me for some there is an emergency in his hometown. And he promised to pay me in installment basis in which i agreed. But it has been almost 6mons now and he hasn't paid me even 1QR!
what to i have to do to make him pay his debt? is there any agency here that i can approached?
I really in need of that money now that's why i want to to collect it.
Please advise. Thanks in advance
Since you don't have any written evidence for 11.000 QAR , Why don't you ask for 20.000 QAR ? Tell police he owed you 20.000 . Then he ll be OK for 11000 . Good Luck .
tnx for the reply's guys... @yacine.h, i don't know if you can call it stupidity if you lend him money because of an emergency. @jokerQL,i did try to make him sign a debt settlement agreement but he did not show up today at work.
We have a proverb that says "Law doesn't protect idiots". It is not always true as Law does indeed protect idiots in some situations, but I am afraid in yours it won't. Speak to his parents/brothers or anyone with authority on him. Otherwise, as someone said here, that is the price of the experience, or I will say, the price of your stupidity.
@Mary, with gentlemen's its illegal, I accept, but with criminal minded guys, frauds and cheaters it's not so, its termed as evidence. @Jay, which nationality is he ?
It is illegal to record someone without their knowledge and consent. If you didn't get a written agreement from him and he refuses to sign anything now, you're out of luck. Looks like 11,000 is the new cost of experience
Yeah ..collect all these evidences listed above by fellow QLers ..
If you paid him via bank to bank transfer ..Get a copy of bank statement.
Then give him a deadline & threaten him you will go to police if he doesn't comply with the deadline ..
@britexpat: you are an oaf.
xfibre: you ninny. What if he reads this post and Susses out the plan :0(
I have an advice for you.
Try and get a phone that can record all your conversation while talking on phone e.g Nokia C3.
Call him as usual and record your conversation.
Tell him that you need your QR 11,000; that you gave him the money out of love as a friend and it’s been six months and he hasn’t even made any attempt to pay it back.
Mind you, don’t argue with him on phone, just try as much as possible to get all required information that we help you and the authority e.g Police to help you collect your money from him.
Why no just send The Boys round to visit him
Just Forgive & Forgot
The best option is to give a police case and get a copy of his bank statement. How did he transfer the money? If it is through the exchange and you have filed a case against him with the police, then the police will give you a document to the exchange to provide details against his ID Card number.
Hope this works out for you !!
show him this post and send message to all his friends in Facebook :)

If it's a 'friend' of yours, forget it!
I am sure you haven't got any paper or similar signed by him since he is (was) your friend. police or authorities doesn't get involved in personal finance issues unless there is strong evidence. so unfortunately only one way left for you is to keep asking him until he pay you.
There is no such thing as a verbal promise in front of the authorities. Yes, you must have something in black and white. Be diplomatic and nice with him and get him to sign a paper confirming he has taken a loan from you. You should have done this before you handed over the money to him. Once you have that in your hands, you can seek the help of authorities. My personal guess is that he will simply refuse to give you something in writing now.
thanks for your reply landloverreview, but do i need a document signed by him that he owed me money in order for me to complain with the police?
Police.
