WHICH INDIAN SCHOOL TO CHOOSE FOR PRIMARY
Hi All.. we are relocating to doha and would like to know which is the best Indian school to choose for my kid who is 9 years old. Below are the comments i received, i woudl like to hear from you who has school going kids.
MES ; heard crowded , but coach well.. some are negative some says its fine.
Birla ; Not crowded, expensive.. good Pr with parents.. resuslts not as guid as mes.
Pls let me know.. i dont not mind the cost and fee.

Results are good .. but heard the standards of English is not that good at MES.. is that right??
MES is the best.
Look at the XII results this year. Its laurels all the way with Toppers in the Middle East and within 5th In the whole of CBSE.
They lead the way despite being crowded.

Birla is good at the lower classes. they have a lot of extra activities too. There is a very active NIA here. you can get all contact nos at the ICC on d ring rd. If you r looking for a compound villa what is the rent u r looking at it will cost something b/w QR 10,000 to 18,000

MES GIRL SECURES QATAR REGION FIRST IN CBSE CLASS XII RESULTS
RECORD PERFORMANCE IN ENGLISH
MES Indian School engulfs yet another milestone in its illustrious career as the 2007-08 batches' student Priyal Ramesh Bhai Patel stands Qatar Regions top mark with 476/500 with an aggregate of 95.2%. She also secured school top in Physics and chemistry with 95% and 97% respectively. The second position in the Science stream was another illustrious student Nadeem Moidu with 472 marks and an aggregate of 94.4 %. The third position was shared by Sreejith Babu and Anju Daniel Prasanth who scored 465 with an aggregate of 93%. The school happened to miss the cent per cent results by a whisker when they secured 99.2% overall pass percentage in the Science stream. Out of the 261 students there were 150 students who were passed with 75% or more marks and 100 students who were placed between 60% and 75%. This in comparison to the previous year is a significant improvement.
In the commerce stream, Ganesh Kumar with 464 marks and an aggregate of 92.8% was placed first. He was followed by Haseena Thayath Madathi with 446 and an aggregate of 89.2% for the second place and Jerome James and C Prathibha with 443 marks and 88.6% aggregate for the third place.
The result saw a record performance for the English faculty. As many as 136 students scored a walloping A1 with as many as 83 students securing 90% and above aggregate while 225 others securing 80% and above aggregate. Among the 83 students who secured 90% and above 57 were from the Science stream and 26 were from the Commerce stream. Sana Shrfuddin and Fasila Saidalavy with 95% aggregate were the first mark in English.
Other subject toppers were Meera George 97% (Maths); N Cherian Elizabeth and Nadeem Moidu, Yazmin Channath Ashraf, Sreejith Babu, Arshad Ebrahim, Thenmozhi Singaravel 95% (Physics); Anju Daniel Prasath 97% (Chemistry); Roohi Rahiman 95% (Biology); Reena Sarh Jacob 99% (Bio-technology); Mohamed Naseen 99% (Engineering Drawing); Naima Khader and Anathan Lokapriya 99% (Home Science); Haseena T M 95% (Economics); Ganesh Kumar, Prathibha, Reshma Aboo, Rohan Budhiraja 95% (Business Studies); Tejas Kurian Thomas and Mridula Mukundan, Nebu George Thampi, Karsten Rocco Rozaria 95% (Accountancy); Shaikh Akif, Sreejith Babu, Anju Mary Samuel, Geena Mary Felix 99% (Computer Science); Haniya Jafar 95% ((Information Practices).
Another significant feature of the results is that there is a marked increase in the number of A1 in various subjects. In comparison to the previous year there are 53 A1 in Chemistry, 52 in Information Technology, 48 in Computer Science.
The management, Principal and staff have expressed their appreciation for the students for their stupendous performance. Mr. F M Basheer Ahmed, Principal has showered his appreciation to the entire 308 student who has secured 80% and above in English and proving their mettle. He had a special word of praise for Priyal Ramesh Bhai Patel, who has made the school proud by getting the top marks from among the CBSE affiliated schools in Qatar. Mr. Rajkumar, Head of Department, English was just ecstatic about this performance and stated that any words of praise will fall short to describe this scintillating performance.

i am shifting to doha in end july. my family (wife and kids) will follow me. can u please advise following :
1. which place would be ideal for living in terms of promiity to mis school and commuting to city
2. are there any compunds in near area having swimming pool facility so that family can have recreation etc and how much it costs.
3. any north indian association and how active are they.
4. how long does it take to earn driving license. i am for the first time out of india hence probably may have to sit for their driving test etc. how much does it cost
5. are there active indian groups for socilaising etc.
would appreciate an honest answer please.
