Why no media interest on Pearl Fiascos
I would like to know why the local media is not reporting on the fiasco that is going on that the Pearl. Investors are
1. Getting charged additional fees for standard connections to the building
2. Having to put up with endless delays with no excuses or reasons offered
3. Not being able to get out of contracts or SPAs although the contract clearly states get out clauses
4. Putting up with increased developer fees with little recourse
5. Having contracts changed to suit the developer after they have been signed thus totally changing the rate at which management fees are charged and eliminating the role of the body corporate.
6. Banks charging extortionate interest rates and reporting record profits and bonuses
7. Self serving developers out to fleece investors
This is costing people hundreds of thousands of riyals and the media just does not seem to care. Please tell me how this is not a story of interest to the public?
camelme, i feel your pain. could we perhaps get the international papers to report on the pearl. if the local papers don't want to get involved we can surely get other papers involved? any idea how we can go ahead and do so?
I unfortunatly know what the reasons are, but I just needed to vent my frustrations at being continually ripped off. I would not wish this Pearl experience on anyone.
Buy the dream.
Sell the reality.
One of the current conspiracies going on. Truely
a tragedy and a shame this is not being reported.
Will give bad publicity? My answer to that is does that justify taking advantage of people who trusted they would be treated fairly? If the developers deserve the bad publicity then these incidents of customers being taken advantage of should be known. This has been going on a long time and surely cannot be supressed forever if they the developers keep on not honoring contracts and promises.
One word: "Censorship"
Is this a serious question?
It's like asking why there are no stories about bas passenger experiences on Qatar Airways, or no stories about HMC, the universities, or the roads, or the sewage system, or pollution.
Newspapers here aren't free to openly criticize things like The Pearl. Period.
I think you can answer your own questions...
well, this system will have its economic repercussions in the long run.
Pearl is developed to attract people. Negative publicity will not go down well.
"Live with passion, Die with style"
they prepare to praise their country and leaders.
