Does anyone know how i can improve the quality of skype?

I have an imac computer and use skype for video call. The sound quality is not very good...I can here some parts of what the other person is saying on skype then i either loose sound or it is very muffled, then i will be able to hear them again. This happens continuously. The picture quality is good. If someone could tell me how i can improve it i would be grateful.

if you're having problems hearing the other person, tell them to un-check the "mic-audio adjust" box on their side. It worked for me.
