How I can install 3DS max 8 in my laptop? (Operation system is Vista)

I purchased one new laptop it is Toshiba 300A - 20T. I need to install the software 3D studio max vertion.8. (version 8 only I have). I tryed many time for installation but it is getting error. If any body know about that Please reply me.
