Why hackers trying to access the email accounts?

Recently some one from IP Adress 212.150.129.67 (unknown.co.il) Location Petah,Tikva, Israel., and yesterday by IP Address 212.150.136.27(amir.org.il) Location: Tel Aviv, Israel was attempting to access my private gamil account. But Google team was blocked the attempt and send me the information to my contact emails.
My concern is why the hackers are doing so?

I did receive the same advice today, I do believe they are amateur hackers if they have been discovered from google's data protection software...

It does not always mean someone is trying to hack your account. Gmail is used by millions of users worldwide. there are many similar usernames (with a sight difference). someone might have mistyped his username and would have realized later.

this still doesnt mean you can downplay the attempt though. it might be someone really trying to hack your account.

Most of the hackers use automated programs so its not always necessary ur a vip for ur account to be hacked.
