Canon EOS 1000D

I am thinking to buy Canon EOS 1000D camera.
I m very new to this field amd want to learn and understand that this model is good for beginner.

can anyone help me telling how is it technically & commercially.

if any one can suggest some good books regarding learn photography, it would be great.

any suggestions welcomes.

coz i'm sure that after using 2-4 months u want to upgrade so better to buy this....even i'm planing to buy..
