Help! I'm new to DSLR

Hi,
I got a new Sony A55 camera from my husband but finding all the fitures overwhelming.
I'm looking for someone to help me out with the basics as I haven't used a DSLR before.
It's such a shame to have all them settings and only use auto mode.
Any help will be appreciated.

Madam, why don’t you go through with the manual? Don’t try to operate all the features at a time. Learn few operations a day. Within a couple of weeks you will become professional.
