Image size

Does anybody know what is the image size of a picture taken by 12megapixal digital camera? One of my friends told me it is approximately 18mb. Is it true?

The size depends on the resolution.

Depends on the camera. my Canon 5D takes 23mb pictures!

I have a 15mg and it ranges between 6-9MB

Size varies depending upon the image content. I have a 14 mega pix and it's file size's range from around 11mb to 15mb

not true

even if you will shoot NEF(RAW)it wont reach 18mb
