Camping in Qatar, Is it legal?
EID Mubarak to all.
Looking at the various campsides in Qatar, Permamant or temporarelly, and looking at the numerous camping night we have made around Qatar, i was wondering if those were legal?
I have been told that for temporarelly, say a night or 2, no authorisation or legal registration was required, but for Permanant (October to May), a special registration was required? If it is the case, could someone help me understand the process
Regards and all the best
They accept online registration and from what I read in the government website www.gov.qa it seems like anyone can apply. I'm uncertain about about the fact that it's only for permanent structures and not for weekend camp nights.
I know many groups enjoyed great camping sessions and non of them mentioned anything about permits. Of course this wasn't during the so called "Camping Season".
Here's the link to online registration. Its all in Arabic ...

Well i have bad news my friend, they have just opened the camping seasons, however, applicants should be Qataries only with a deposit of 10,000 QAR :) read yesterdays newspapaer.
Anyway, if you know any qatari national you can still apply under his name, and pay the refundable deposit above.
Applications to be submitted in person, their office is at the Mariott Marina.
Regards,
Thnaks very much for your feedback.
Do you know or does any one could give me guidlines on how to acquire permits/licenses for permanent structures.
Do you need permits/license prior mounting a tent or do you have to mount the camp prior going for legal stuffs.
Thanks
what you have already said is my understanding of things here. But this is more in relation to the semi-permanent camps you see the Qataris erect down in the Inland Sea area.
Throwing up a pop tent for 1-2 nights on the weekend has never been a problem in my experience. But now that everyone is heading down there during vacations and weekends, they are trying to regulate those setting up more permanent structures by issuing permits/licenses. Again, this usually only affects the locals who set up a proper camp with several trailers, water tanks, etc. -- even leaving a few guys there to man the station during the work week.
