Is this really the usual practice in Qatar? Blowing your horn if it is green light in traffic signal. I always fighting with the indian driver! Sorry to offend the others...

As i know it is a violation. Can someone answer? thanks

Blowing the horn alerts sleeping drivers to the green light.  With some of the lazy nationalities this is necesary to draw their attention.

yes in qatar...indians are the worst driver i encounter, local its given its their country

i never drive in fast lane most specially when my son is with me, i only used it when im turning left or u-turn & even im in the middle lane or slowest lane they still flash lights with me or worst used their horn so instead of moving faster i move slower than i was...they will be pissed of & move in fast lane...they will look at me & i will look back with a BIG SMILE :-)

Drivers can avoid horn

If you Consider other vehicle and drivers, may be you are not hurry to go reach any specific destination.

If you consider others, you will alert and concious to move when the signals is open.

I experience several  times after green signal, more than 30 seconds   the first vehicle never move.

Some people sleeping or talking or chating with others,  but this case naturally those who are hurry  , they will Blow Horn.

some of the comments i read it,  that saying  only use horn vey necessary time and unavoidable circumstance.

WHAT ABOUT  USING SIGNAL / INDICATORS . Same like horn blowing very rare using signal too here in Doha. More drivers  driving the car drunkard  zigzag without proper proper signalling or indication. Majoritydriversare  rule the road and some of them escaping by the grace of God

@ vincecode, it is a violation of the law here but where are the traffic police to implement it???...if they fine a few dozen morons who honk their horns for no reason, rest assured, sooner or later,it will stop...the problem lies in implementation of the law...

What about if you have stripeless zebras in your front scrolling mms,or composing sms. Please dont forget those poor but pedigreed ones who cant afford hands free ,all the while and has penchent to talk as if directly talking to the minister.

My warm regards to those who are very close to god and pray before shifting gears and releasing brakes at every traffic light.

Note:Prayers starts only after the light turns green.

One of the most irritating things you encounter while driving on the road is when a car behind you keeps on honking his horn at you for no apparent and obvious reason. Don't use it UNLESS it is really NEEDED. Do not honk to express anger. Horn when use properly is very effective way of communicating to other drivers on the road. It could prevent accident or any untoward incidents.Common sense stealth, anybody who have seen drivers falling asleep waiting for the signal to turn green is very rare and just proper to horn, a quick beep not a long blast. We are referring to drivers who are obsessed using their their horn un-ethically. Never use horn to say "get out of my way'' to avoid dangerous situation.''Be a good defensive driver''

how can someone have a driver license if he/she is ignorant and stupid???yah vinecord, it is very unusual for good drivers blowing their horns even if it just turn green for a second, but here in Qatar, they can't wait at all. Time in western country is so precious unlike here but MOST Indian drivers seems to be rushing always, AS IF THEY OWN THE STREET. "'Use your horn in a proper time and way"'

it depends when it is done sometimes it is to wake you up and remind you that you should go ,at other times it is to warn you against a coming danger,at other times i use it to tell some """one YOU STUPID BE CAREFUL YOU COULD HAVE CAUSED A VERY BAD ACCIDENT WITH YOUR IGNORANCE """ so instead of stopping and shouting and yelling at each others like many man do a strong horn will do:::;;;;;))))))))))))))))
