A QLer reported on Saturday that he saw a dead dolphin and sea turtle at the trash ridden beachside of Al Roidha in the Northwestern part of Qatar.

Bench Padul, an expatriate from Philipines, likes to explore parts of Qatar that are not commonly known to residents in Qatar.

He was shocked to see a dead spinner dolphin washed up on the Al Roidha beachside. A few meters away, he also spotted a dead hawksbill sea turtle. This is not the first time sea animals have been washed up on Qatar's shores.

In September last year, a dolphin washed up on Al Wakra port and was cleared away by the municipality. Two months later, a 15-ton whale was found dead at Al Huwaila Beach.

Padul also stressed on the fact that the beachside was laden with trash that was most probably left behind by campers or washed up from the sea. If this was a contributing factor to the death of these two animals is unclear.

Qatar's shores is an issue of pressing importance, where several residents complained about heavily littered beaches, especially during holidays and weekends.

Although the government's #WeAllSeeYou campaign is urging residents to pick up their trash after camping, some feel there should be more campaigns that can push for better treatment of the beaches.

"Every organisation in Qatar should take their own initiative to keep the environment in Qatar clean as part of their social responsibility by organizing a beach cleanup or awareness campaigns at least once a year," said Nabil Ahmed, a student at Qatar University.

Some Qatar residents also took their complains to social media.

Here are some more photos of the 'scenery' at Al Roidha Beachside.
