Respect for women

respect should be given to any person particularly to women who are being abused. a women, either wearing an abaya or not, should be respected. i have heard from my lady friends here in qatar that they became victims of harassment such as male touching body parts of ladies in public, men touch butt, waists, hips...etc.. for a country which is not open in western culture, these actions should be avoided to show respect for ladies.. please!

I get scared when an arab in his car stops right in front of me and I start walking faster.....and then he drives faster and stops right in front of me again.........and then I walk on the opposte lane because he cannot come to that side without a u turn...........and then again I jump to the opposite side............then the arab got off his car and started running after me and then I started running too........after 2-3 minutes he caught up with me and then he said........please don't walk on the road as you may meet an accident especially the funny way you are walking..............grrrrrr

Just report this to the Police and memorize their car plate number and if they r not in car then just call for help loudly, u will find a lot of helpful ppl here in Qatar who r ready to teach such ppl some respect.

Qatar solved the issue of Female abuse and harassment by simply requested those abused ladies / females just get the car number and give a call to the police on 999 ... they will catch him in the street wherever he is and send him away to the airport to his home land and if he is local they just send him to jail for some hard time.

Angel, it's not like the 'country' supports such things. Infact if such things are reported, authorities are very sympathetic to women. Women everywhere in the world go through 's*xual bullying' of sorts whether at workplace, streets ...and so on.

I have similar experiences like jjj75. I agree that more vigilance is required on roads.

I agree with mohsobhy, they should react the moment they are abused or they feel abused by someone so the person abusing will stop because if girls don't react the boys might think that you like being abused....

I often ask them would they want their wives or their sisters to be approached/handled in such a way or I say my husband is just round the corner

That usually sorts them out

I think there must be a STRONG reaction from women against those sick people who annoys them. You may wonder that I said the reaction must come from women first and in my point of view I think women should show up that they are strong and they are not week. They must tell those sick people we are here. YOU MUST RESPECT US. For example: If a woman in a mall faced a problem like that, she must reply with a strong reaction like hitting this person or making him a problem at the same time the security will come and will make him another problem.

But when a woman keeps silent no one will care for her.

do get fed up with the 'curb crawlers' here, wolf whistling and shouting 'hey get in my car' etc... especially when I am pushing my baby in his pram. What on gods green earth do they think I am going to do say 'yeah, that sounds like a tempting offer, let me ditch my baby first'!!??

You are right but in the first place, why did they allow it to happen?
