Christmas is what you make of it.

The smells of baking, decorating the tree, waiting Christmas morning for the presents, listening to carols...aaah sheer bliss.

Also knowing that God loved me enough to send The "One" most precious to him, so that I could be saved. That gives me great hope and makes me strive to better than I am.

Silent night, holy night

All is calm, all is bright

Round yon Virgin Mother and Child

Holy Infant so tender and mild

Sleep in heavenly peace

Sleep in heavenly peace

Silent night, holy night!

Shepherds quake at the sight

Glories stream from heaven afar

Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!

Christ, the Saviour is born

Christ, the Saviour is born

Silent night, holy night

Son of God, love's pure light

Radiant beams from Thy holy face

With the dawn of redeeming grace

Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth

Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth "

It was a fun filled Christmas party held in our compound today. The potluck was a bit hit, everyone shared and enjoyed the food. The main event of the party was the special appearance of Santa handling out presents for the kids while parents were so excited taking pictures of their kids sitting on Santa's lap.

With the teamwork and hardwork of everyone involved, this is a successful and unforgettable event as we felt the true spirit of Christmas.

focusing on the spirit of Christmas here in Qatar? well, to see simple decor in some department store is in a way heart warming already. considering the fact that this is an islamic country and they are allowing that is a sign of peace.

back home, though it is filled with commercialization, the fact that our family is there, there is no better spirit of Christmas but to be with your love ones.

go and get love ones here. lol

I always tear up at the Christmas plays and the look of wonder on a child's face on Christmas morning when they see that Santa did come and leave them pressies. This year my husband and I are truly blessed and received our best Christmas present ever with the early arrival of our son last week. Although a bit small, Finlay is perfect in every way from his bald little head to his minature little toes. After waitng and praying for years, we are the happiest people alive this Christmas. God Bless and early Season's Greeting to all!

Didn't grow up in the faith and thus, no traditions to get ingrained. To each his/her own and most people have good reasons to do what they do. Some people celebrate but do not really show it as there is nothing to prove to anyone else.

off to lighting of Christmas Tree in Sharq - Christmas is coming!!

Spent last Christmas here and felt so bad that I have got to fly back to UK this year - shame my husband can't come too, but will be staying with friends, seeing my children eating mince pies, going to church - singing carols and feeling COLD! Just 10 days to go

Can't wait :)

I noticed some of the christian posters here refer to Christmas as Xmas.

Though I am in no position to dictate them what to say or what to do, I just thought of posting that it deeply saddens me that some christians un-intentionally remove Christ our Lord from Christmas and replace Him with an "X", an unknown..

I can totally accept this from non-christians but coming from a Christian, it simply saddens me.

I am saying this, with all love and respect to previous posters, please don't feel attacked or offended. I just felt the urge to say it out loud.

By bibo• 17 Nov 2009 15:38

Though I will be flying home, as in every year, this christmas, I must say that Qatar gave me a tremedous spiritual growth in every aspect of my life as a christian.

It peels off the festive show-offs... and what remains is what is simply in the heart.

I am sometimes saddened back at home, when I feel Christmas is so deprived of its true meaning...

With a Christmas feast, and so much attention to decorative details and to guests, I feel as a prisoner of a festive ritual, while I would have loved to do it much differently.

Oh...for those of you who are wondering why don't I do it diffferently, it's to honor my father, who is 78, and longs for having us around him on Christmas eve.

My little son already knows the full birth story, he loves Santa but he knows Santa is only a festivity, while the truth is in our Lord's birth.

Nevertheless, I've been listening to Christmas Carols and Christmas songs in my car since early October...

Try asking kids what xmas is all about and I'll bet a pound to a penny they all say Santa, Presents, Turkey dinner, and very few will admit to the birth of Christ unless they are dragged kicking and screaming to mass!

Just a sad reflection of today's consumer driven society.

has a nicer feel here. It's not overly commercialized like it is back home. I can concentrate more on the religious aspects while at the same time enjoy the somewhat festive atmosphere. Joy to the World

Christmas Carol Lyrics

Play Music !

Joy to the world, the Lord is come!

Let earth receive her King;

Let every heart prepare Him room,

And Heaven and nature sing,

And Heaven and nature sing,

And Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing.

Joy to the world, the Savior reigns!

Let men their songs employ;

While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains

Repeat the sounding joy,

Repeat the sounding joy,

Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.

No more let sins and sorrows grow,

Nor thorns infest the ground;

He comes to make His blessings flow

Far as the curse is found,

Far as the curse is found,

Far as, far as, the curse is found.

He rules the world with truth and grace,

And makes the nations prove

The glories of His righteousness,

And wonders of His love,

And wonders of His love,

And wonders, wonders, of His love.

Christymas in our heart

by: jose mari chan

Whenever I see girls and boys selling lanterns on the street

I remember the child in the manger as he sleeps

Whenever there are people giving gifts exchanging cards

I believe that Christmas is truly in their hearts

Let's light our Christmas trees for a bright tomorrow

Were nations are at peace,

And all are one in God

[Chorus:]

Let's sing Merry Christmas and a happy holiday

The season may we never forget the love we have for Jesus

Let him be the one to guide us as another new year starts

And may the spirit of Christmas be always in our hearts

In every prayer in every song

The community unites celebrating the birth of our savior Jesus Christ

Let love like that starlight on that first Christmas morn

Lead us back to the manger where Christ the child was born

So come let us rejoice

Come and sing the Christmas carol with one big joyful voice

Proclaim the name of the Lord

[Chorus:]

Let's sing Merry Christmas and a happy holiday

The season may we never forget the love we have for Jesus

Let him be the one to guide us as another new year starts

And may the spirit of Christmas be always in our hearts

[Chorus:]

Let's sing Merry Christmas and a happy holiday

The season may we never forget the love we have for Jesus

Let him be the one to guide us as another new year starts

And may the spirit of Christmas be always in our hearts
